Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

Zeus is Mercury and Mercury is Brunswick so SR was forced to use them. After talking with my dealer, he said one of the main reasons SR did not make money with the Sport Yacht and Yacht lines was with upper management which in turn tricked down to the assembly. Dealers were begging for more...

Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

Not sure you have been on one of these but there is no comparison in overall quality to the SR's of similar size. Prestige sells for quite a bit less for a reason. Displacement is typically a third less because they use lighter less dense materials that are of lesser quality. Just walk aboard...

Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

Interesting but here in Southern California our local dealer could not keep inventory of these larger SR's as they sold quick. Even sold a few L class's. In my range of boat the 400 fly, I looked at all of the competitors and nothing had the layout or quality of the SR. If Tiara would have had a...

Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

Well the concern I have is that they are not just stoping one or two models but the whole lines. My experience with my new boat has been a bit concerning with a huge number of items to be fixed. I was not expecting the amount of time I have spent dealing with these. I believe the quality...

Brunswick dumping Sports Yachts and Yachts. Where do we stand?

As an owner of a late model Sports Yacht (18' 400 fly) what are everyone's thoughts going forward. It is my understanding they will be keeping a small team to deal with warranty work and customer service for these models in the near future but what happens five years from now? Did the owners of...

What is normal amount of water in bilge? 400 fly

Thanks to everyone for all the info. I took delivery a couple of weeks ago and so far so good. I understand the amount of water that I saw in the bilge was way more than should have been there. That being said, my dealer absolutely acknowledged it and determined it was a leak with one of the...

What is normal amount of water in bilge? 400 fly

Thanks again to everyone for the great insight. I now have an idea of what to expect and it is not what I saw. I spoke with the dealership owner and he said they had not done their in house survey of the boat yet and the issue will be fixed prior to delivery which is supposed to be this Friday...

What is normal amount of water in bilge? 400 fly

Thanks everyone, good stuff. I think I will contact SR and see what the design is for this bilge. I would like to know if anything is supposed to drain into the bilge and at what point the float should activate. I will have the dealer check all connections and see if we can find any leaks. Just...

What is normal amount of water in bilge? 400 fly

I am about to take delivery of a new 400 fly. During our sea trial and poking around, I noticed what seemed to me as a large amount of water in the bilge. It was about 4-5 inches deep and the water was even visible in one of the forward hatches (floor of aft cabin). I asked the dealer about this...

Thanks Carbo, I plan on being there.

End of Sea Ray as we know it

Yes, I agree. I have always preached to never buy new. My problem is we really like the new designs with the amount of light and size of the bridge along with the lower helm. I big kicker is my wife will not let me buy a boat without a joystick. After she had the opportunity to drive one she...

End of Sea Ray as we know it

I am in current negotiations for a new 2018 400 Fly. MSRP 1.05m. Current negotiations are at 730k and I think I can get it down to 720k which equates to just over 30% discount. These are real numbers after incentives etc. my concern is the drop in price after purchase. I am new to SR and all my...

    Narrowing search for next boat

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). I looked at the Bavaria 420 Virtess, Prestige, Regal 42 fly, and the Galeon. The quality of the Sea Ray is by far superior, and I like that it has the V drive vs the pods. I keep hearing how hard it is to get any work done on the pods along with higher...

    400 Fly new or used

The boat you link to is not the fly bridge model. Add 50 to 80k for the fly

I have yet to see one with more than that. They seem to be holding some value I guess.

    400 Fly new or used

I have yet to see a 16' for 500k. Always asking way above 600k. If I could find one I would jump on it. Also I understand the 400 is built in a different factory than your 250 and is night and day with regard to quality. That may explain your issues with new or maybe not? Thanks for your thoughts.
