OK, SG. I mean, I know I can always unscrew it, but there are a lot of screws. And, there must be a reason there is a strap. I'm just not seeing it. I've got this black strap that's hanging there (viewable in the picture), and I just don't know what it's for.

I know this may not be the area for a 1990 SR question, but the purchase order dates 1989 so.... I purchased a 1990, Sea Ray 310 Express cruiser and it has a rear bench screwed to the transom via a hinge. Some would call this a piano hinge. I was wondering... why does it flip up? Is it simply...
