Raw Water Pump Impeller replacement - How to Guide

What a great write up! Thanks. But In 95 heat and humidity I'll give this one to the mechanic.

    Geneva Lake, Wisconsin

Nice lake with lots of $1-$3 mill estates and lots of boats. Draws mostly from Chicago and Milwaukee. Waves 1-3 not too bad for a 20 footer at planing speeds. We didn't go out on the 4th though. There are some restaurants in Lake Geneva, Original Popeyes, and a new place in Williams Bay, 390...

    Geneva Lake, Wisconsin

Thanks for the input guys. We're loaded and ready to go for a well deserved holiday. I guess I'll have some stories to tell, hopefully not bad, about the trip later. This will be the first real test for the envoy, rated at 5,600 lb, towing a 4,750 rig. Hopefully it and us will handle the heat...

    Geneva Lake, Wisconsin

Going up to Geneva Lake, WI in early July. Staying at the Abbey Resort in Fontaine (West Shore). Has anyone boated this lake? Am I undersized at 20' ? I'm thinking off peak hours only. Any relevant thoughts welcome. Thanks. Widowmaker

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Update on the problem. Took it to my local non-dealership mechanic. He traced the problem to the main computer on the engine. A new computer cost about $1,700, holy crap. He said his friend had a boat with the same engine and shorted out the dipstick to the alternator too, so it's not just...

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Thanks for the replies. I hope it's as easy as the fuse thing. I'll look for those and try that when the weather breaks. If not that, then could it be the PCM? 9 degrees here tonight...I miss FL.

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Just an update, ;ast month I pulled the alternator and had it checked at a local alternator & starter shop. It checked out OK. I'll have to wait for a few warm days and check a few other things. I'll run 12 volts to the fuel pump to see if it works. It's my understanding the fuel pump only...

Need video for changing raw water pump/impeller on my 5.0 MPI/BIII & on Kohler 5ECD.

Re: Need video for changing raw water pump/impeller on my 5.0 MPI/BIII & on Kohler 5E I don't know how to change out the impeller but I have a single engine 2003 5.0 MPI w/ B3 on my boat and the water pump is located on the lower left side of the engine (looking to stern). Mine is belt driven...

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Update... The 2 "mechanics" checked it out last week. I met with them at the boat and after a few checks they thought it "might" be one the relays on the top of the engine. They switched them around still no start but thought they may be interlocked..they were available at NAPA $62 and I...

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

SeaRenity, Do you have any other information on this fuel pump pressure regulator? My mechanic didn't show-up or call yesterday, or today, so I on my own. I took off the top cover over the intake area and saw a small black cube near the main engine circuit breaker area. Is that it? Do you...

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Thanks but I did that too. Also played around with the shift switch. Everything seems OK. Supposed to be 26 degrees Thurs night. I may have to float the rear end to help keep her warm until I can drain the engine and do the pink thing.

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

Thanks for the reply. I have a mechanic coming out Wednesday. Hopefully he can figure it out. With no voltage getting to the pump I hope its only the alternator shorted out. Will update results later.

Engine Won't Start/No Fuel Pump Voltage

2003, 5.0 L MPI, Bravo 3 Here's what I did. For pre-winterization I always change the engine oil and gear lube. At the dock and on the lift with the outdrive submerged I started her up to heat the engine oil, everthing normal, ran a few minutes, engaged the drive to warm gear lube up a bit...

    Splashed her April 9, 2011

Last fall I used the "bucket method" to winterize again w/ success. We had 80+ temps last weekend...climate change I guess. Vermont is quite a bit farther north than central illinois. Your time will come. Nice looking boat by the way!

    Splashed her April 9, 2011

Fired her up Saturday and took a shakedown cruise. All systems OK. Feels good, I'm ready for another season!

Slippery ramp, spinning wheels, looking for solutions

I'd use a larger grit sand or a fine aggregate mix like a road-pack mix from a quarry/road builder and keep it in a 5 gallon bucket, not a fine sugar sand for traction. Try to time your launch retrievals with high tides. Also turn your wheel a lttle right and then a little left to get a better...

    SeaRay 185 from 2004 - Reasonable price ?

Nolten, Welcome to the board - from across the pond. The MPI is better than TKS, better hot starts between ski runs and less mechanicals. Looks like some fluid leak or spillage under the power trim unit; reservoir appears low. Check for any leaks around fittings and also the power trim...

Do you leave your batteries in over the winter?

Is there any chance of freezing in the dead of winter, with no load attached?

Do you leave your batteries in over the winter?

Mine comes out fully charged and then put on the trickle charger all winter in the basement on a wooden board.

    Another Winterizing Question

There are 2 blue plugs on the water pump on the starboard side bottom near the oil water seperator filter that are very tough. I have to step into the bilge lay across the motor and put them in by feel with my left hand. Put a towel underneath in the bilge in case you drop one so it will catch...
