Thank you. Clarifying questions: ...by battery type mix; the 12v linked to the parralleled 6v sets will cause a charge/discharge imballance - makes sense and I also suspect that is contributing to the short 12v battery life. Potential solution to exchange the 12v for 2x 6v for the thruster...

Thanks for reviewing the concept. I believe the ACR should prevent the port bank from ever draining at the hands of the inverter. It is supposed to sense a voltage drop on either bank and cut the circuit when that occurs. The inverter works out pretty well for the weekends away from...

Awesome job! My salon sleeper is the most uncomfortable seat and/or bed (does'nt help it doesnt lay flat when deployed). The foam and material just aren't warm or inviting. I didnt think much of it until I sat on the sofa of my buddy's 2002 Carver 400 - super comfortable, you actually want to...

Thank you everyone for your input. The Cats have about 1300hrs and the Westerbeke about 900hrs. I have upgraded the alternators to 80amp from the stock 50amps and went to "self exciting" type without the isolater. Scooper321, you're correct in your understanding of the circuit as it is...

Hi Fellow 400DBers, I have some questions I'd like to run past you regarding house AC system and Bow Thruster circuit: I noticed that my bow thruster battery (located under galley hatch) is linked to the Inverter/Charger system for the house AC system. Therefore it is only charged when plugged...

Mine has bow davit as well. My research showed it has 1000lb capacity. At least the davit is rated for that. I couldn't find anything related to the structural capacity of the mounting or deck, however, one would assume it was designed accordingly. Mine has a couple stainless rails mounted...

Thanks for posting this. You received a better explanation than I did. I had a similar discussion with our local CAT dealer as I wanted to understand how an oil that was once bad for the engine is now fine. Noting that my local CAT dealer is focused on farm and construction equipment. I did...

I wouldn't think you would need to. Air bubbles should work their way to the helm where you can bleed the system using the port on top of the wheel reservoir. I had to bleed mine every year as the steering got a bit spongy. I got a rebuild kit and replaced seals on the helm and it seems to...

Sure. It was quite a project. But I had access to a shop and skilled craftsmen to help me build it. I designed it out of aluminum with SS support posts. I tried to match the boat lines the best i could. Current challenge is getting the roof liner panels to stay put when it gets hot.

Yes, i remember as well. That meeting with Barrett solidified my resolve to build it! I did ask Kurt. He did the new canvas for the hardtop and suggested i send the frame overboard...

Does anyone need or want my Stainless canvas enclosure structure? I believe its the standard stock one. I attached photo of canvas on it for reference. I tossed the old canvas. I installed the hardtop and do not imagine ever going back. Its huge and I'm not sure how you'd ship it or...

I cant remember any exact tricks except for laying on the engine and contorting by arms, neck, and wrists trying to get sight and access to the filters. It helps to detach the gas struts so the hatch pivots all the way up. I was able to get it out and service it and back in, so there is a way.

I hope not a sea water leak interacting with the core. It just seems like a leak below the water line would be consistent and steady while the water appears randomly. But i dont know what the wood exposure is below that sub floor. So it could be a freshwater or drain system leak with your...

I agree 100%. I think you still need resolution on the first survey's findings - or at least come to terms with a potential issue in the future. The hull is critical but the deck work is no joke. A third party, or boat yard, should do more investigation on the areas of concern to give you...

I had the seacock inspected a few months ago when I had it hauled (I agree it doesn't look good for where it is). In hindsight I think you're right and I should have had it glassed in to remove the variable. But I thought a future owner may want to put a sanitation treatment system back...

Mystery water in the front bilge: Does anyone else have this handy-work under the guest bunk? There is a small cuttout in the subfloor for a thru hull where there used to be an Electro San system. I had that removed and the thru hull capped. It is not sealed around the bottom edges of the...

When we bought ours we had a couple spots that the survey indicated moisture and we were compensated for the cost of repair in the selling price. Most of the spots were false alarms. But hassles with the TNT lift made up for that. Are the spots registering delamination from the ball-peen...
