Gary,
Is a QC thing with those valves. They are not true ball valves. They function more like an old seacock with the tapered wedge barrel inside. Then just an o-ring seals the top. I've replaced many that were installed at the pick up.

The hardest part of this alignment will be moving the engine around. The 3126 is heavy.
Loosen the coupler bolts and insert feeler gauges around circle the two faces make. Your allowed a tolerance of .001" per 1" of coupler dia. So a 6" coupler could be .006" out of alignment. Obviously the...
Dom,
To answer your original question.
You'll notice a decrease in power and max achievable RPM. Then there might be just the slightest stumble at idle. If you look in the filter bowls they should be black.
I'm kind of weak with Cat, so it's all yours. LOL
I think what your describing is more the difference between a mechanical system and a electronic unit or common rail system. Am I on target?
The steel pipes from the injection pump to the injectors are almost never a problem. They are pretty...
Frank,
This is more a testament to the quality of the SeaRays. With the pressed flare fitting on the fuel system. It's almost never a problem. With other installations that use hose clamps air can be ingested rather easily.
I can go both ways on pre filling. If you have an older...
I'd think a quick call to SR CS could net you the answer to the shaft dimensions. I'd recommend this because you are missing part of the shaft. If all of the shaft were present, measuring it would be a snap.
Look at the condition of the cutlas bearing while it's out. An off handed guess at the...
I'm not up on PA's laws. From what I've heard they don't offer a class A non-CDL. You'll need a class A license to tow that kind of weight anywhere. At 10'5" you also need oversize permits and the "red tape" paperwork mentioned above.
Is an F-150 up to the task. NO WAY, not even 1 mile down the...
Both Yanmar and Volvo Penta have excelent packages in the size range you are looking at.
Yanmars BY series is ideal for small V8 replacements. Volvos D3 also.
Both repower options will require some amount of modification to the engine beds. I wouldn't even think of running a diesel through an...
Let me toss out the Volvo D6 series.
Personally 450hpx2 for a 400DB sounds over powered. I'm thinking along the line of the D6.
I ran a Cruisers 460Express with these and it felt strong.
It has more to do with the boat builder than the engine. My 340 gasser has crimped fittings. I've been on several new gas and diesel boats with both systems.
An hour per engine to check the alignment is reasonable. 8hrs is not. If you need it I can forward the ABYC specs on this. It needs to be done. Don't let them do it until the boat has been floating for a minimum of 24hrs. The longer the better after winter lay up. Frank suggested 3-5 days. I'd...
