Thanks guys. I was afraid of that. It always worked like that, then I wondered if that was how it is supposed to work.
I think I got a small oil leak inside one cylinder, which now won't compress all the way. Maybe some oil where it shouldn't be. Maybe forced past an internal seal.
If I have my Alpha I sterndrive all the way down, and I hold the UP button, it raises the outdrive until it hits the designed height for that setting, then it stops rising automatically and the pump shuts off. (Assuming my trim sensor is set to specs). Good.

Yeah, I'm still running an outdrive with a lifting hook on the top. As I said, its a 1980. It too is a pre-Alpha.
My engine is the 5.7, where you have the 7.4. Today that would have a Bravo drive on it. The Alpha was never designed for 7.4 L engines.
I recall they had some heavier outdrives...
Anyone familiar with the 41 Aft Cabin of the late 80s? Models above are similar. I'm looking a these boats but I'm concerned about the fuel tanks.
I believe they have 2 x 200 gal aluminum tanks. If I have to replace them I wonder what is involved. Does anyone have any idea?
