    how to choose a broker

I have decided to sell my 1999 310 Sundancer. I am what the brokers refer to as a “motivated seller”. I am trying to decide between the following three kinds of brokers: Marine Max dealer brokerage 25 miles away Broker A – small size local operation with business contacts in South...

Engine temp fluctuates - RWC 350 MAG MPI

I just had some engine service which included replacing thermostats and all water hoses on both raw water cooled V-drive engines. The thermostats are rated to open at 160 deg. Now the port engine won't hold a constant temp at low RPMs. The gauge varies back and forth between 170 and about 185...

    Fuel cooler questions

How long does the fuel cooler last? How do they fail? My boat is raw water cooled, 12 years old, 350 MAG MPI motors, in the water year-round. Cooling hoses look like they need replacement. Does anybody know if the fuel coolers have a replacement interval?

    Need swim ladder parts

Swim ladder is original equipment on 1999 310 Sundancer. Some of the brackets, that slide in the tracks, are broken. Does anybody know who made this ladder or where to get spare parts. I have already determined that I can get the screws out, so I just need the brackets/sliders.

Are these hoses ready to blow?

RWC engines. There are cracks forming around the neck of the hose at the thermostat housing. No leakage yet. Some salt residue forms, but can be washed away. Rubber seems firm, not squishy. Are they ready to rupture?

    How to clean bilge sludge?

After years of oil dribbles in the engine room, portions of the bilge are coated with residue and some sludge has formed in the low areas where water collects. I have not found a degreaser that really breaks the stuff up. I am using oil pads to get some of it, but they are sloshing around in...

One month in a 310 Sundancer

I know that a lot of CSR members are planning their 2009 cruises, but we just finished our big one for the year. We wanted to beat the Florida summer heat, but we still encountered unseasonably hot weather for much of the time. This was our first retirement cruise, everything before this was a...

Digital TV converter not working well

This past weekend I had planned to install an Artec T3AP Pro converter box, with analog passthrough. Before cutting or drilling, I just temporarily hooked it up to see what channels I'd get. Things aren't going well. On the arch, I have a Shakespeare 2030 omnidirectional antenna. The coax...

    Cabin floor storage compartment

I would like to store some heavy spare parts and props (in boxes) in the compartment under the cabin floor. However, I am afraid of damaging the shower sump near the back. I was thinking of putting one of those grippy rubber shelf liners on the bottom, and placing a fender just in front of the...

Wiper motor replacement - another job

Thanks to great info from boatmailster and jrcinnh in this thread, I am making progress, but have not actually started the work. The gears may be shot because it only makes one sweep, then stalls until I move it by hand. Also lots of slop at the blade...

    Jammed steering problem

I planned to use the boat today, but had to cancel due to the steering being jammed hard-over to starboard. The boat is a twin inboard with Teleflex cable steering to the rudder tillers. The last time I used the boat, I had to return and back into the skip on one engine. So, in the struggle I...

    Seeing a connection

Well, my first day on the board. I've already seen signs of yachtjim and BOEmarine, familiar signs from The Hull Truth board. I have been a happy BOEmarine customer. That, plus the warm welcome, makes me feel comfortable in the new place. Thanks a lot.

    Just registered

I was just directed over here from BoatUS. Lots of glum SRO'ers on the other boards lately. OK, let's cheer up and mingle here. Fortunately I was able to get my old ID here too. I boat year-round on the FL ICW in the Palm Beach area. No fishing, just cruising and anchoring. Typically...
