I've owned my boat since 2006 and I'd like to have the impeller replaced this year (based on recommendations I've read on this board). I apologize for my lack of mechanical expertise. Will the stern drive on my boat need to be removed to replace the impeller? I have no idea where it is located.
For those of you who boat overnight with children, how do you keep the kids happy while on the water (other than video games and television)? What family activities have enhanced the boating experience for you and your kids?
In case you missed it, the fall issue of Sea Ray Living Magazine includes an article on page 12 offering a free hat for Owners Club members. Simply call (800) 248-3512 and leave your owners club information. There are also several opportunities to add points to your Owners Club point balance...
I'm disappointed that we didn't have a local event to attend this year. What would motivate a master dealer to NOT host an Aquapalooza event? Moreover, as I review the list of events at www.aquapalooza.com, there are only 10 listed for the entire western region of the country. If boat sales...
Over time as I've rinsed my boat, the hard water at our marina has left some stubborn mineral deposits behind on our glass windshield. Glass Plus with a cotton cloth removes dirt, but won’t remove the spots. What do you recommend I use to remove the water spots?
We have two small (2 pound Kidde B-C) fire extinguishers on board in addition to a factory-installed fire suppression system in the engine compartment. One of our small fire extinguishers is mounted in the cabin cabinet under the sink. The second is sitting in a drink holder near the cockpit...
I realize this may be a no-brainer question for many of you, but roughly how thick is the hull on a 2006 260? I've never drilled a hole in my hull, so I have no idea. Does the thickness vary significantly from one part of the hull to another?
I've managed to cram many major accessories on my little 260 except radar and water maker (5Kw generator, AC/heat, windlass, underwater lights, GPS/fish finder, remote spotlight). Is the 260 a big enough boat to mount radar on the arch and safely use it? I'm thinking about boating in the Puget...
When we're tied up at public docks along the Columbia River, we often observe boats with their radar scanners still spinning for 5-10 mins after they have docked. I asked one skipper last week (after his radar had been running for about 20 minutes) if he could please turn his radar system off...
I'm writing to report how pleased we are with an alternative cabin AV system. While not nearly as fancy as the factory-installed solution, we've discovered a very practical and inexpensive solution for boaters without TV.
Start with an inexpensive laptop computer. Ours was under $500 and has...
The premier issue of Pacific Yachting arrived in my mailbox this afternoon. Included in this first issue is a review of the new 290 Sun Sport and articles covering Anacortes, Quartermaster Harbor, spring commissioning, boating safety and seamanship. I was also pleased to see a two-page Sea Ray...
I recall a post from SRO days describing a message board focused on northwest boating. Todd? Do any of you Northwest folks know of local online resources which supplement CSR? I'm particularly interested in resources focused on Oregon and Washington boating.
I'm not sure how many folks know that Sea Tow offers free advice and directions to boaters. Vessel Assist may offer a similar service. This season my family is planning a cruise up the Columbia. I thought I'd share the very informative reply I received from our local Sea Tow franchise...
With the engine running at cruise on my 260 DA, I can't clearly hear the VHF radio. If someone was trying to hail me, I would never hear them. The speaker is mounted low on the console, so that may be part of the problem. My aging ears may be another part of the problem. If you have a...
If you have kids, the free Mustang PFD promotion is certainly a great incentive to attend.

No shortage of attendees or shortage of interest in the Sea Ray exhibit last weekend. We observed lots of people excited about the 310...
I have more than a few years before retirement, but I'm wondering at what point age might become a safety issue when boating? Can I expect to safely operate a 30-40 foot cruiser well into my 70s, for example?
Every year in November our local dealer (Trudeau's) holds an evening open house for past customers (new customers too, of course). Food, wine/beer, and door prizes are provided. Last year live music. Do your dealers offer similar events?
For those of you looking for a way to spend down your Health Care Reimbursement Account before year-end, here is something we discovered last night. First Aid Kits for your boat are eligible for reimbursement. For those of us with kids, so are pain relievers, antacids, and antibiotic creams...
