Leaking cool fuel in Mercruiser 496 (2006)

If I can't get replacement parts for free from mercruiser I'm considering removing the paint from my old lid.. although when searching for information on this problem I read that the screws for the lid are very prone to break because the holes aren't tapped!? That scares me from doing this myself

Leaking cool fuel in Mercruiser 496 (2006)

I called my service center asking about this yesterday but they hadn't heard of this paint issue and asked me to send them the engine serial number to check for service bulletins. After searching information on this issue it seems the paint problem is not present in any service bulletins so I'm...

Ouch, yes that looks exactly like the leakage on mine. Thanks for your insight and your post! Did you end up sand blasting the top cover?

Leaking cool fuel in Mercruiser 496 (2006)

After starting the engine the first time for the summer (started and ran with no problem) I noticed gas smell from the engine compartment. I belive I found the cause of the leak coming from top of the cool fuel unit (gen III).. Fuel seems to be seeping from the base of the fuel pressure...

Hi, I'm having problems with my Kohler generator: it's been running perfect all summer but now when I'm about to winterize it I'm having trouble keeping it running! It starts fine and runs fine if I keep the start button pressed, bit as soon as I let go of it (on the unit in the engine room) it...

It seems my sunbed tracks are stuck as well, I've tried everything to get it to move! I even removed the cushion and tried pulling the tracks with a vice-grip but it won't budge. How do I remove the tracks from the boat; the screws to the stern is behind a cushion on the wall, how can I remove...

Does anyone have a good source on the ignition switch at the helm? I've found ones that states OFF-ON-ON but the last ON should spring back and I'm not sure the ones I've found online does that Mine is a bit glitchy, the beep doesn't always sound the switch is pushed to the first stop, sometimes...

496 MAG stopped while cruising - "lost engine comm"

After intensive search on Google I've figured I should clean and lube all battery connectors and smartcraft plugs.. That's on the guess that the problem has something to do with the "lost engine com" The crankshaft sensor seems to be unreliable after I googled that as well and seem to...

496 MAG stopped while cruising - "lost engine comm"

While cruising along the other day with my 280 with a single 496 MAG it lost speed/died all of a sudden. No alarm no nothing Looking back I'm not sure if the engine actually got in "fail safe" mode with lower rpm or if it shut down completely since I quickly shut off the ignition as soon as I...

Does anyone know the part number or have a url for a replacement toilet seat in our boats? Mine broke in the hinges. All model years seem to have the same toilet model (Dometic 500-series?), mine is bone-white.. I've contacted dometic here in Sweden and sent them the product number for my toilet...

Yes I saw you reply.. when I looked for the 12V outlets I only saw a 110V outlet there, but I will have another look next time I'm at the boat. I might have overlooked it. Thanks!

Ok since there is none, I'm planning on adding two USB/12V-oulets in the cabin.. Any ideas where it would be easiest to put them? I'm thinking maybe pull power from the cables to the TV to an outlet by the galley and also from the stereo/amplifiers to someplace in the stereo compartment should...

Hmm I only have what looks like regular US 110V sockets in the areas you describe; are those for 12V as well?

I can't find a 12V outlet inside the cabin in my boat (2006)? Is the only 12V outlet on the boat the one beneath the wheel in the cockpit?

I'm about to change the spark plugs on my kohler. How do I change the plug on the backside of the unit? I guess I can reach over it and change it blindly, but I'm thinking there should be an easier way?

It's stuck in the upward position so I haven't gotten it down yet.. I'll try lifting it a bit before pulling it, or is that only when you raise the sunbed? Otherwise hopefully it'll unstick if I spray some lube on the tracks. Thanks for your help!
