Thanks for the info Scott. The way you handled it is my plan as well. Looks like things should drop in nicely. Re the drive, I am planning on running the 1.62 alpha. I've done some searching through Searay propping archives and it looks like they used the 1.62 alpha behind 350 mags on...
Will do, this is my winter project which I'll get started on once I haul the boat out for the season.
Before then, I will take some baseline numbers so I have a point of comparison to measure any improvements.
Time to plane
0-30 mph
0-40 mph
Top Speed
I will keep a photo log of the process as...
Very helpful, thank you.
As I suspected the mounting blocks in the hull are setup for varying engine sizes.
Will take some measurements this weekend and begin the preliminary to get the 350 in.
Thanks again!
Hey Wazzu,
the 305 and the 350 weigh the same and share the same physical dimensions. I suspect the 350 will physically fit in the engine compartment.
My reasoning behind asking for a picture of the V8 motor mounts is to compare (visually) the stringer setup and motor mounts with my V6...
Could a user with a 205 and a V8 (either MPI or carb) take a picture of their engine mounts for me? I have obtained a used but good condition 350mag and I am trying to see if I can get it to fit in my 205 sport.
Thank you,
Thank you! I really appreciate the picture and response.
Another quick questions (if you don't mind)
Does the cover have a tension strap that keeps it tight to the boat, without the need to strap it to the trailer? (I'm thinking of using the top when my boat is stored on my boat lift and it...
I'm currently considering the purchase of an 02 290 SS with twin 6.2's and B1 drives.
I'm trying to determine the accurate weight of this boat as configured. SR lists the dry weight as 8,300 lbs, but not sure if this is the weight of the boat with one engine (lowest weight) or the weight...
Posting for my father...
while running into a marina today the starboard engine lost electrical power & power steering then quit.
Boat was docked on one running motor. Trying to start the starboard engine immediately trips the breakers.
I don't have a ton of details yet or any more specifics...
Did some boarding last labour day. I'm way too rusty!

Sorry to thread Jack here but a question about your 40 DA.
How do you find the running angle when on plane? My Dad's 06 40 with QSB380's runs with a very distinct bow up attitude and we're not sure how to get the nose down so to speak. Even with the Tabs all the way down the boat still runs...
It's smaller in every dimension than the 43 sundancer yet it's labelled as a 450? Methinks this boat is more of a replacement for the 40 DA than the 44 (43 is the 44da's replacement)
Article also says it's engineered for both diesel pod drives or axius sterndrive gas power.
I kinda like...
Maybe not an option but why not fill the tank to the brim with as much fresh gas as you can and take the boat out for a good long and hard run to burn it all off.
The highs are:
1) you get a fun day of boating
2) no need to get into the messy business of draining the fuel tank
3) no need to...
Well season is over for me. Boat is cleaned up and being hauled away to storage for the winter :smt009

Anyone have pictures of the factory tower on the 205 folded.
Was messing around with mind this past weekend and I couldn't get it to fold, not without pulilng it apart completely. I though once you loosened the four rubber knobs and took out the two fixed allen head pins it should fold no...
I have a 205 sport. Haven't measured it on the trailer, but with the swing away tongue on the trailer it's pretty close to exactly the boat length.
Still, at 23' you'll be very very very tight for this boat stored.
the 195 isn't much smaller (only 8 inches or so) and likely is factory...
