Harold, This weekend talking to my friend, has a 1989 Searay 42 Sundancer. He put in a Raymarine EV-200. Complete kit was about $2.5K from West MArine but he did use come coupons. Looks like a nice easy install. I'm looking at the EV-150 beause our boats our a little lighter than his. Will call...

Hi Folks, I'm starting to look at autopilot systems for a winter project and wanted to get opinions on things to look out for, both positive and negetive. I'd like to find a nice valued option that is sized properly for our boats. I don't want to spend $4k-$5K on a system. I'll be doing the...

It's nice of him to replace the pumps and floats. Make sure the main battery disconnects are "ON" or pumps may not turn on. Mine is behind the large bench seat in storage compartment by entry way on trasome of boat. Those pumps should work even if submerged in water for a while but if water...

Another note: It's interesting you have an insulated HAVC line in center locker running forward. Where does it go? My boat has two AC units, one under salon couch that feeds air to port side behind refrigerator to outlet by coffee machine and the other on starboard side running behind the...

BV, I can't tell if the shower sump box is full up to it's overflow line. It's overflow line runs to the bilge under steps. So, if someone used a lot of water to clean boat and then dumped it in shower it would fill sump collection box, then overflow in bilge and fill that center locker if...

Dang, you guys, I want my boat in my yard in the winter. lol... Bjorn, The area I think most likely to be wet is on either side of the wall (bulkhead) that seperates the engine compartment from the forward sleeping section of the boat. The 2 big stringers that are closest to the center line of...

Todd, Your seat sounds like it has the typical cracked molded frame. I made some comments above about my repair. Check it out and the link to a website about products and process to use to fix. If seat fails completely while sitting in it, the vinyl will rip and be more costly to fix not to...

Guys I'm in the middle of my helm seat repair due to the cracked frame. It's not too bad once you get the material and foam off seat. I would caution anyone with a seat feeling too flexy to fix it ASAP. Based on how the seat fails there is no doubt during a hard acceleration it could fail...

Forgot to mention, one quick way to check for a wet bulkhead is drill a 1/4 hole in gelcoat near bottom and if wood is wet you will see it on drill bit and most likely water will leak out of hole. You can later patch hole with silicone or get coat.

SWS, Take a look at these pictures One is from engine compartment the other from the salon looking aft from my stringer repair job. Note I had a stain in my gel coat in same place as your picture! When I did a stringer replair in my boat in this area I saw dark water wick out of some of the...

Something I noticed doesnt make sense. If you look close at the tube ID it doesn't look like the dirty spunk dripped out of it. I'm also wondering if it is really oil or some other gooey substance. I'd check straight above to see if something dripped down. The AC water circulation pump is right...

Take some pictures when you have things tore apart. I have same project to do this spring. One option to consider is, it might be easier to remove engine. I've removed an engine in 1 hour, had it running in 1.5 after reinstalled. No need to realigne with drive shaft because I was carful not to...

My 10 cents? If attached to the top of hand rail it would make a nice awning for birds to go under and crap all over your boat, or make nest, two if there are no poles supporting it in the midle to let water run off you'll end up with a nice big swimming pool in the front of your boat as the...

Yep, saw this boat myself and talked to the owner, he keeps it in the same city as mine. Was impressively build and is definately well supported but that's a lot of money for a dinghy lift.

OK Thanks. They did a great job. I hope mine is not too bad. I have been having this fear that one day when I crank up the throttles the glass of red wine and me are going to do summer salts all the way to the stern of the cockpit if the back of seat lets go......LOL
