I just went through this earlier this year, finding the correct supply (dip) tube was tough. My original was a section of 1/2 clear lexan fitted to a nylon hose barb fitting, i tried to repair, didnt work. I built a new one, mine was 1/2 in.mpt x 5/8 hose barb ell tank fitting. I opened up the...
Did you ever get all of the air out of your cooling system with the bleed screw? Kohlers are funny about that, they dont appreciate air bubbles in the system. One more issue, when it quits, is it under load? Another Kohler quirk, some dont like to run without a load.
For checking your shower box, try some food coloring in the box, and see if it shows up in the bilge. Wouldnt try it where carpet would get wet though.
My 6.5 has an electric fuel pump so I wouldnt think it would have a priming issue. Make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank the genny draws from. Some setups are such that they wont supply fuel to the genny at less than 1/4 full. Mine pulls from the port fuel tank. Sounds as if someone has...
I just went through the same issue. The hose I needed showed discontinued everywhere I looked, I did finally find one on closeout, priced well north of $100. I went to the local hydraulic hose warehouse, they built just what i needed, $16.
Not unusual at all. One of ours chattered, did some research, changed spark plugs, rattle was gone. In addition to Captrons post, i found another from Hurth that said the reason was due to the tranny having straight cut gears, not helical cut.
Hopefully you will find where the bilge sewage came from. I feel your pain, I did mine 2 yrs ago. You can rest easy on the saniflex choice, thats a good call. Ive used it and Trident and its a lot easier to work with. Just a word of warning, as you know, that hose is expensive, dont change your...
With that type of plastic I have had some sucess sealing cracks with hot melt glue. Drill the end of the crack, V the crack as much as possible, rough up the surface, lay in a wide heavy bead of glue. Ive even saved batteries this way believe it or not.
If you go for replacement, pay lots of attention to inlet, and outlet sizes and placement in relation to your old one. That can be a real pita if they differ much.
Get into Lewmars website. Its a little confusing, and you have to dig a little but, all of their manuals are there. I didnt get a real good look at the gypsy but, what I did see looks similar to my '95 model Ocean Concept (which has been replaced by another model) As mentioned, it might just be...
I have followed this topic with some interest. CO detectors do have a lifespan, and they do save lives, no doubt. That being said, has anyone added a battery back up CO / fire detector? If not, why not? I dont know about your boats, but if theres a fire on the other side of the doorway from the...
We ran into this issue last year. They looked just alike but, one was VHF, one was am/fm. Ours were Shakespeares, they look just
alike but there is a difference.
Maybe I missed it. Are the pressure readings coming from the gauges? Probably
just me but, I have a distrust of electrical gauges. I would feel better with pressures checked by a goid mechanical gauge.
When mine gave it up, I replaced it with a combination co / smoke detector. I replaced 2, when one detector goes into alarm, they both sound an
alarm. I dont know why smoke detectors arent installed on boats, thats crazy.
