Bravo 3 Cooling water pressure question

mine is the 240 sundancer, you need to get to the 2 bolts to undo the hose fitting on the transom that connects the seawater hose to the raw water pump, I'm 6ft2 and 220lb and it is tight, I was doing the raw water impeller as well so unbolted the pump, and after loosening the clamp on the...

Bravo 3 Cooling water pressure question

I just did mine myself last week, with the boat on the trailer, you take the outdrive off and it is then removable from the stern. Make sure whoever does it uses the new type hose kit.

Bravo 3 Cooling water pressure question

if it has the old style inlet water hose thru the transom it may be getting 'bravoitis' restriction

1990 180 bowrider. Trim up wont work, but Trailer button does.

I had that problem and it was a corroded connection in the wiring from the throttle control to the trim pump, about a meter or so from the throttle control end

    Preventative recomendations

I have just done most of that work myself on my 240 with Bravo 3, there is a new type water inlet hose that is better at stopping the restriction of cooling water thru the transom due to 'bravoitis' may be a good idea to ask your mechanic to fit that type if you get it done. similar reply to the one they sent me in 2016, except they offered me %50, perhaps I was a bit more descriptive in the email I sent them after the fire :) I chose the electric cooktop and adapter which is not hard to fit or wire in, and like Joelife have a portable gas burner as well. There...

I was talking about the outdrive end of the shift cable, where it goes thru the gimbal, I have to remove it all again to do the water hose so I will leave it one turn loose this time

I'm going to follow your advice regarding the pinion assembly seal, I ordered the spanner from here https://www.ebay.com/itm/192084513527 probably not as good a quality tool as merc. but they want $160AUD for one here, so hopefully this one will do the job

thru-hull or Water Intake Hose Kit Design II

I have just about completed the job of replacing gimbal bearing, u-joints, bellows and raw water pump impeller, I will have to remove the outdrive and bell housing again to do this job, but it shouldn't take long. I had left checking the internal transom fitting until I had the raw water pump...

thru-hull or Water Intake Hose Kit Design II

inside the boat after the water neck was removed off the inner transom, a piece of 7/16ths dowel will just fit in the hole. I am leaning towards replacing it with the newer type which has the 3/4 plastic pipe that goes right thru the transom

thru-hull or Water Intake Hose Kit Design II

I have a Bravo 3 starting to get the inlet hose restricted thru the transom, its down to 7/16ths where as new its 3/4. Should I put in a 1 1/2 inch thru-hull and strainer with some sort of flushing fitting, or just replace the old style water hose with the new type? the motor (383) is in the...

I have installed the new gimbal bearing, U-joints and bellows kit. I am wondering if its possible to drain the gearbox oil out of the B3 outdrive, then refill it by pouring it in thru the inspection plate on top before I refit the outdrive?

finally got back into working on the boat, gimbal bearing was a real pain in the ass to get out, but is out now, also have the u-joints out. The bellows doesn't appear to have any cracks so I assume the water got in there from the O ring seal to the exhaust on the outdrive?
