Here is an update, a year later. Replaced the coupler, the correct one needed the larger hole cover plate, found one at a boat boneyard. I have a skinny friend that works on boats. Within an hour he had everything disconnected and we pulled the motor. Sat it on a stand, than drank beer. Next day...
thanks everybody. it was the coupler. 1st. the moron that owned the boat before me told me that he had replaced the coupler. so I didn't think that it was the problem. Everything kept pointing to the coupler. Pulled the motor out, it had the triangular plate coupler on it. NOT FOR A 454. it had...
moth ago boat ran fine, nothing changed, 3 weeks ago took the boat out, no wake zone all was good, pushed down on throttle, motor rpm's went up, and boat went no faster, sounded like a clutch slipping. 1st thought was spun hub in prop, ss prop with a pressed in hub, replaced the prop, and...
in 1988 some big blocks that had problems, with the alpha drive were fitted with the bravo 1. I'm sure it's a bravo 1, the water pump is on the front of the motor, not in the outdrive. the top half of the lower was rebuilt, I have the old parts. the prop was changed (thought it might be slipping...
HELP PLEASE, got a 1988 268DA with a 7.4 magnum (454), bravo 1 outdrive. 3 weeks ago the boat ran great, last week, we took it out and it sounded like a transmission slipping. runs fine in slow speeds, go to push on the throttle, at about 3000 rpm it start to Rev up, but doesn't go anywhere...
They make you lean forward. The upholstery is fine. It's like the seat bottom does not extend out far enough. The seat back (at the top) sticks out so far that your butt has to sit out on the edge.
I have a 268 DA, I sent my 25yr old Kenyon cook top in to have it serviced, they sent it back like brand new. Any questions I had they answered everything. Extremely awesome customer service. They will set you straight
It is called tambour. It is the same material that is used on roll top desks. I don't remember the name of the supplier, but I Google tambour panels and that's how I found them. It custom cabinets, or something like that. When you cut them you need to remove the fabric where it rides in the...
Thanks all I have an 1987 sea ray 268 DA, which I have given to my church. I have an air conditioning/ heatpump unit that I haven't installed. I volunteered to help insll it.
I don't know where to start. Any ideas, please. My new boat has air, but it's all hidden.
Thanks,
Again to those who have said a lot of hurtful things. This is not my place, I'm either selling the boat, or donating to a good cause. I guess that I have been blessed with a job that pays me enough, or the fact that I have invested my money well. This weekend at the Detroit boat show, I...
I got a 1987 268DA the helm seat is fine, but the 2 behind the helm, and the pullout in the back suck. I was going to buy a seat that goes along the back, and up the port side. BUT,if I get that, it sets right on top of the cover for the engine area. Any ideas? Or is there a way to make the...
Thanks, people. I've received some really helpful info on this site. Then again, I've received some really hurtful, and rude comments from people. I've decided to get rid of the boat. I don't really want to be associated with an industry that has such rude, and ignorant people. Again, thanks to...
I like the way you did it. Thank you, I was lead to believe that I needed a tilting bow roller, which would place the roller out another foot or so. I found a extra locker door at a marine junk yard, so I'm going to mount on the door. I I need to put it back to original I can just replace the...
This is an upgrade. I rd s hard to take a picture right now. It's covered in shrink wrap, and it's cold as heck outside here in N.W. Ohio. I'm going to inlay a 1/4" stainless plate into the bottom of the pulpit. It shouldn't be noticable. I'm going to mount the windlass under the door for the...
