I feel certain you’ll find something that meets your criteria.
My wife & I are going up again next weekend. We never look for big acreage, but always pick up a real estate magazine or two and always have our eyes open.
Disclaimer…I’m no expert by any stretch. Just my observations & opinions.
Weird to say this, but just like buying a boat, your intended use is paramount.
If you have some flat land relatively close to that county road, access & utilities may not be a big deal. If your goal is to build a place...
You shouldn’t worry too much about winters in that area. It’s not Florida mind you, but snow is usually heavy, wet snow that is gone the next day. Sure, an occasional storm may stick around a little longer and the Blue Ridge Parkway has sections that may occasionally close. But that’s...
I have spent more than my fair share of time in the area. In a previous life I lived in N.C. & day tripped it to the mountains often. My wife & I still go up there at least once a year.
50 acres “west of Andrews” is quite a bit of elbow room. I’m sure you are well aware of the price per acre...
Hate you are going through it all, but actually a cool story as to how the all too standard surgeries are likely outdated and over implemented.
I’ll raise a glass for your continued recovery.
I believe it takes a special, highly dedicated type of guy to work on boats in any capacity. It seems to me, in my limited experience, that most guys "fall into" the job of boat mechanic. They don't love it. It's just a job. If it doesn't work out they will move down the road & start replacing...
I've seen this boat AFTER a weekend on the water. He is not joking.
I thought I saw a spot of dirt on the side window, but apparently it was on my sunglasses. I saw the same spot on my way back to my dock.
Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks again Brett.
Still around? Yes.
I've not been very active (posting) on the site lately, but I still read a lot.
If you ever head towards Scottsboro check out what might be happening at Goose Pond.
I still visit CSR every so often.
Still playing Dock Master down on dock 1 at Goose Pond.
Hopefully you haven’t slipped in and out of G.P. without me knowing. Last time I saw you guys I promised y’all dinner at the marina restaurant…..it’s the season!
Stay safe,
Michael
Brett
I too am at Goose Pond. I keep my 250 down on Dock 1, with the smaller boats.
It would be nice to meet you around the marina sometime. Maybe a meal at the restaurant when it opens up for the season.
I don’t know if you are new to the area or how often you are around, but If you ever need...
Make sure you call ahead. I'm not even sure they are open in cooler months. Summer months you need to get there early. I would suggest docking at the marina and walking over to the restaurant. Docking at the place is limited & requires navigating some skinny water.

The thread above discusses a fire at a small marina back in late January. This marina is about 10-12 miles from the marina that I have kept my boat at for the last 6 years.
These...
Scott, I was just day dreaming about Destiny two days ago. I once thought it would be the perfect boat for me. Its hard to imagine the new owners will take better care of it than you did.
This happened about 10 or 12 miles upstream from my marina. The official cause will not be released for quite some time, but as I have told others, I'm betting on an unapproved bilge heater. Authorities claim they have identified the boat as the source of the fire & have moved it to a secure...
