    Exhaust Manifold 8.2

I have 8.1 and built a flush system. I went 7 years and just replaced them this fall. I cut them open and this is what they looked like. Now these are 8.1's so your castings may be different, but I was impressed on how thick they still were. I can tell you this though, My friend has the same...

2010 sea ray 390 sundancer with bravo 3 outdrive

The steering pin issue is the seal. It goes bad over time and corrosion is a big part of it for a slipped boat once the seal has a problem, and it will. JMO

2010 sea ray 390 sundancer with bravo 3 outdrive

If not mentioned.. Transom Assembly's go bad. Steering pin leaks and the motor has to be pulled to replace it. There are kits out there, but just a band aid. Transom assembly is around 2K. I would keep that in mind.

Anyone Charter a boat in the BVI?

Did my research. I may go through Marine Max because of the boat layout with 3 cabins. If I can get another couple I'll do the Moorings. 7 day charter, where did you go first? How hard was it to rent a ball? what are the places you would want to stay at longer?

Anyone Charter a boat in the BVI?

Next January I'm planning on heading down with a few friends. How many of you ever did this? What were your experiences? Going with a friend who has done this like 10 times.

    Underpowered

I get the best Mpg at 3450rpm/ 29mph, Standard 8.1's. My friends HO's like 3500-3600. Any lower they feel like they want a little more.

    Underpowered

    Wow. 7.4's, 3800ish and only 37.6gph. Impressive.

    Underpowered

Well put. The difference from the 340/40 at 3500rpm is the mph. But the fuel burn will be more overall because it takes much more to get them on plane also. 36gph I’m at 31mph in my boat. The 40 will cruise at 23-24 at 3500-3600. I still feel the 8.1 is really working all the time in that 40...

    Underpowered

your 40 was getting 32gph from 3200-3600??? The same as your 340? Sorry have to say no. I don't mean to question you, but I captain boats of all kinds and that gallon burn sounds way off.

    Underpowered

I have a 2004 340 with 8.1. I think it's powered perfect. I went on my friends 2002 38 foot Sundancer and a huge difference in power and fuel. His cruise was only like 23mph and was burning 42-44 gph. I cruise at 30mph burning 31gph. With 8 people on his it he was really pushing it and felt like...

Thinking about underwater lights - AM I CRAZY ? boat is in the water all year long....

Yes but 3/4 screws don't go all the way thru the hull. The wire goes up and in above the water line.

Thinking about underwater lights - AM I CRAZY ? boat is in the water all year long....

Trim tab and hull mount. Drilled under the platform to run the wire out of the water. No problems with anything. I put some Vaseline on them and there good for like 3 months. Just re-apply.

    Batteries suck

I use interstates. With a good charger and checking the fluid, mine last 5-7 years each time. And that's when I just change them. There still working , just don't want one to fail on me.
