    Barnegat Bay anchor/swimming

We go to Tices every weekend. After the news about the clinging jellyfish, I am now just anchoring in much further to avoid any eel grass, which is what they supposedly are around. I've only heard of 2 people getting stung so far, but I may be asking the same question if it starts happening...

    300 SLX Helm Cluster Access

I wanted to see if there is an easier way to access the back of the gauge cluster on my boat. I have a Raymarine and Garmin display, but the Raymarine is not connected to the NMEA network. Last time I looked, it looked like there were bolts on the other side of the gauge cluster holding it and...

    Going for swim ..... anyone?

Last year, my wife and the kids went out the Barnegat Inlet and went out a few miles. My daughter was insisting to go in and take a dip. My wife was saying let her go and I was making the same arguments that many of you have. As we were lowering the swim ladder for her to take a dip, I see a...

300 SLX Cruise RPM & Trim Angle

I have a 2014 and cruise at 3400 rpms, where I get 29-31 MPH depending on the conditions. As far as trim, my boat likes to be trimmed just a tap or two up from all the way down. BTW, where did you find the speed vs. MPG comparison? Can you post a link?

454 MAG MPI - Periodically run at WOT?

My mechanic has provided me the same advice. I have 350 Mag MPIs and typically run them at 3400 RPM with a 30 mph cruise. At then end of every other trip or so, I open it up before I get back to the marina, although it is not for more than a minute. He told me that running below planing...

Definitely need shore power. I must have turned off the charger one weekend, and by mid week, I was scratching my head trying to figure out what the different lights blinking in the fridge meant. I live in NJ and the contents of the fridge are very cold even when it is baking under the canvas.

Factory Fresh water flush ports Merc 6.2 Mx MPI

I had them recently installed to replace the perko flush kits. I was told that you just run the water with the engine on, turn off the water after you are done flushing, then immediately turn off the engine. I assumed he suggested this order to remove any possibility of causing engine damage...

    Flush pro kit

Follow your raw water pickup from the out drive to the engine. If it's installed, there would be a T fitting with another hose to let you flush.

    Flush pro kit

I had the Perko flush kits in my boat, but had them changed out to the Merc kits. Here is a pic of what happened when I used it to flush the engine after getting back to the dock. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26797429/20160628_082614.jpg In addition to the problem of them cracking in...

Hatch hold down magnet part number??

Thanks, but that's not quite it. That looks like the magnet to hold the windshield down.

Hatch hold down magnet part number??

One of the magnets on my swim platform hatch has corroded and is expanding, keeping the cover from closing completely. Any idea where I can get a replacement. Here is a link with a pic. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26797429/20160820_110043.jpg Thanks, John

    VHF Antenna Ratchet Mount Gasket

What type of mount is it? Mine came with a Gomex mount, and you can get the gasket from the distributer in Mass. I don't have the part number, but it is on the website.

Do you have any issues with leaving the starboard battery on the entire time you are on the hook? I was switching it off but it seems to cause more problems that it fixes. I have to take a look into the electrical panel as i'm having an issue with my rear speakers, so I'll see if mine is any...

My radio only has power when the ignition is turned on. I saw some other threads stating that there is an accessory position, but it doesn't appear to be an option on my boat (2014 300 slx). Is this how the radio is typically wired, and if so, is there any reason I shouldn't just find a wire...

Amp replacement on 2008 300 SLX

Did you find the amp yet? I have a similar problem and would think it is behind the radio, but would like to hear what you found.

    8.1 cool fuel filter change

I didn't have the 8.1, but on my 2006 350 Mag, there was an issue with the fuel relay on the engine wiring harness. It would intermittently cause issues where the cool fuel module pumps would not operate. On the 350 mag, the relay was on the top of the engine by the port elbow. Squeezing the...

I got the fridge out yesterday. It is only held in with the 8 screws along the outside of the trim. It came out easy, but you were right about the length of the cable, just long enough to get it out. There was an access panel behind it that gave me access to the antenna mount I was trying to...

I used a $30 bore scope from amazon to check and make sure there is an access panel behind the fridge. There is, so I'm going to try and take it out tomorrow. As far as removal, are the screws around the outside edge of the fridge just for holding trim, or do they have to be removed? I see in...
