I have taken many friends out on the boat but one likes it so much he wants one just like it. As luck would have it the dealer i bought mine from has one. This one is a 2003 280 the only difference is that it has a 496 B3 for power. Opinions?
I guess a better question is why wouldn't you replace it with the exact same engine? From what you are saying it sounds like the engine is not up to the task. Needs less pitch in the prop and needs to spin 400 rpm more to get max power. Obviously works but is stressed alot more for a little...
Mine is the same way. One battery and an on - off switch for the port engine that does nothing else but power/charge that engine and it's associated accessories. 2 batteries with a 1-2-both - off switch for the starboard engine that power/charge that engine and it's accessories plus the house...
If you would like to see a 280 I am about an hour from you. Regarding the other subjects, I do keep the boat on a trailer pull it in and out every time I use it. I don't like the idea of having sterndrives sitting in saltwater for a season if I can avoid it. when I go out it is generally with 6...
Take a flat head screw driver about the size of the plug and get it hot enough to melt plastic. Put pressure on it in to the hole and let melt in to the plug. You might have to do it more than once to get it in far enough to get a good bite. Then unscrew it.
My procedure is to dock the boat and lift the drives. Back the trailer in so that the truck tires are about 1-2 feet from the water. Untie the boat and pull it over to the trailer and winch it in. After about 10 feet the ramp is pretty steep so even with the bow tied to the trailer the rear is...
Be careful going by sea ray's weight numbers. They say my 280 weighs 8700 dry and venture said the trailer weighs 1800. Add some for fuel water and miscellaneous I figured 11-11.5K l. Mine weighed 12400 with no water 1/4 fuel and maybe 100 pounds of miscellaneous stuff. I have a ford 3/4 truck...
Hello to all,
I have three water leaks and I was looking for suggestions. Leak one is on the shelf above the cabinet that is to the right of the sink and in front of the stove. Leak two is in the aft cabin located at the front right relative the boat or the left down by your feet when laying...
They are great to have to in any water but I think it is a must have in salt water. Some will argue that it is not necessary to have them. Obviously you don't have to have them but when your manifolds need replacement or your block develops hot spots because of salt collecting in corners you...
