I have a 2000 8.x kW Westerbeke. The impeller is on the back side of the generator. I have replaced mine twice. Both times I:: 1. Removed batteries and battery trays. 2. Removed vertical 2x4 wood post supporting the cockpit flooring, (in front of belt cover). 3. Removed black belt cover...

Trunk Latch I am looking to replace the latch for the trunk hatch accessible off of the swim platform. It was broken when I got the boat years ago, with what appears to be pieces missing. I know that it is made by Eberhard, and is of the Eclipse line, however there are 3 different latching...

Back on posts 3857-3860, there is info regarding building of a gantry to hoist the gen up so that the plywood could be replaced. And coosa was used. Unfortunately the pix appear to have been lost, during the recent site hack. Dave

Paul, no I still have the factory alternators. I swapped them once, trying to track down an intermittent charging issue. That is a really long story...

I have CAT 3126s. For the starboard alternator, I remove the air filter and move the coolant overflow reservoir. Then I use my foam pad and lay on top of the CAT, and get to work. I call the starboard unit my 2 hr alternator. The port alternator I call my 20 minute alternator. Go figure. Dave

Hey Jamie, no luck figuring out how to stop that flow. In a heavy rain, there still is a stream of water through that opening. I am thankful to have just finished a flooring upgrade to Infinity, so no more soggy carpet. Dave

Thanks for the details regarding those drain hoses. I never noticed them after 9 years of owning this boat, so I guess I need to be more observant. Luckily I don't appear to have any rot there, but it will be something to watch over time. That drainage 'crotch' that I highlighted above, is...

I am wondering if this post may have solved a mystery for me...... Does rain water that enters these vents get directed to this drain (red circle below) via a hose? Looking for one of my mysteries to be solved. tks Dave

I hand cut a piece of plywood for the inner ring, when I installed my new Fusion a few years back. Then the outer ring (formica) got roughed with sandpaper. Then I painted both pieces with special latex primer then flat black (2x coats). I like the look. Every once in a while it needs a touch...

Swim Platform Ultra has a pattern for our 400's. www.swimplatform-ultra.com. I have seen their platforms on at 400 and it looked quite large. Not sure how it was attached, but I think that aspect might be installer specific. 3 months ago it was $4800 but that is CAD, so with USD it would be...

Johnny, I cruise at 1400 rpm, travelling at about 16km/hr (9mph). This gives me good range and fuel economy with the 3126s, (so ya, I drive my boat like a trawler....) Dave

End of SAEO ?? My buddy and I both have 3126s. He tried to buy SAEO-30 this week and the local distributor said that CAT is no longer making it. Has anyone else heard this? I am from Ontario Canada, and the local province-wide distributor for CAT is Toromont. UPDATE: CAT confirms SAEO-30 is...

I was wondering if there are any better designs out there, (or fixes) to solve rain water entering the aft cockpit? Believe it or not, I think I still have the 'stock' canvas for the aft cockpit. Whenever it rains, water comes in, down the steps and soaks everything before hitting the stbd...

Hey 'Scooper', on my 2000, there is no cigarette lighter outlet there. Must be a later year add. So I have to add any wiring. I will verify that the ground bar is AC or DC and search around a bit more if necessary. tks Dave

Wow 'Totally', I have not seen a charging panel that large before!! Was your wiring to that charging panel pre-existing, (perhaps a simpler 12v outlet)? If you ran the wiring, where did you pick up power and ground? And was that charging panel an Amazon purchase? Dave

House Ground? I am adding a dual USB charging port, with 12v meter to the galley/salon divider here: I plan on picking up the 12v from the salon light switch, (unswitched side). Now that all my lights are LED the power draw is 1/10th compared to incandescent. For the ground, I was planning...
