I am posting this to let the members who were friends with him know what has happened. He was a member and a moderator for years, he then resigned his duties as mod since he had sold his SeaRay and moved on to other hobbies. I just found out a couple days ago when I wished him a happy birthday...
Not going to beat you up over the fin, I have had one, never again, the Smart Tabs are way better, You should try them. I boat in rivers and the sound, a 185 bowrider really does not belong in the ocean although I have been out in the Atlantic on calm days and the Gulf of Mexico on calm days and...
I know that I am late on this thread. If you have not got Smart Tabs yet, I have the same boat only 2004, I put the Stainless Steel tabs on mine, they work great, if I understand it right the SX tabs have a problem mounting to the curved Transom like we have, get the ST1290-60 tabs, they are...
The relay looks like a starter solenoid switch. If the terminal on the ign sw get hot when you turn to start that is probably what it is. That would mean that the original wire has a break in it between the ign and solenoid. Probably not worth the trouble of tracing it out to repair which is why...
You may want a helper to turn the engine by hand so you can see all of the teeth on the flywheel ring gear, it is possible that you have a bad spot, just mark flywheel so you know when you have turned all the way around.
I have a 2004 185 Sport, 4.3 carb, Alpha 1, 1.81 with 14X23 prop, I have bought both Turning Point and Solas props, the cup on these props is more than the Merc prop, you need to contact them before you purchase. The Merc prop gives the best performance out of the three.
Looks like the center part of the roller has been dragging, it looks rough. You may need to replace or maybe pull apart, clean and lube so it will turn freely, probably replace.
I think I would get a pump to fit the hose, I could be wrong but the larger hose means more volume of water pumped out. If you get a bad leak you will need all the volume you can get. Just my thought.
You probably should start a new thread to get better attention. I will say that the tensioner is spring loaded to maintain proper tension on the belt, if it would not move then the spring loaded base is locked up/ defective, that is why you had to go the route you took, the tensioner needs to be...
I just went to the local boat show, they had a 190 OB on display, there was less room in that boat than my 04 185, it is due to design of the boat. To me the OB version should have more room than tha IO version, but hey, I don't make the big bucks. MY choice is also probably different than the...
I have the original stainless steel version installed in 2005, they are well worth the money. Follow the link to see getting ready for install and installed photos. https://www.facebook.com/nolan.lain/media_set?set=a.1016382207919&type=3 Your install should be similar, as you can see I did a...
Prayers for everyone there, I have another friend that lives there, his wife and children left, he is a first responder, he spent the time in a 60 year old hospital which lost part of a third floor wall at one time do not know what else may have happened, he has posted that the people there are ok.
Apparently they now want someone to pay for it
