It should be on a float switch. However if it is like other SLXs, the water level required to kick the switch on is higher than you probably want. I have an inspection port in front of mine and after rains I reach in and turn it on by hand.

I have a 2014 250 SLX that has the water in the ski locker issue. I have contacted Sea Ray about the issue but no response yet. They could solve the issue with a check valve in the discharge line so that the water could not back flow from the over board hose. I do not have the plug leak issue.
