    Gallons Per Hour

I don't have to know. I was curious and the numbers that I got didn't seem right. I thought on here someone with similar setup would let me know what they get. I appreciate the input on this forum and have found it helpful in the past.

    Gallons Per Hour

Thanks for the inputs. Still not sure where my consumption stands. It seems that I will have run some more trips and check to get a better idea of my fuel consumption. In the end, it doesn't matter in regards to how much I will use the boat, as I bought it to enjoy it, and will use it...

    Gallons Per Hour

It was very calm with a breeze at my back. No wake zone was only about a mile. Not sure but maybe they didn't quite fill all the way at my destination.

What is an appropriate $ tip when fueling up?

I usually fill up at my marina where they pump the gas for you. It is always young girls working on weekend before going back to school in fall. I always give at least $5 as they need the money and are always pleasant.

    Gallons Per Hour

Took a short trip in the boat for the 1st time, a little over 60 miles from Lake St. Clair to Lexington. Filled up before leaving, and filled up there. Ran the boat at 3200 RPM for almost the whole way (couple of bathroom breaks and 1 no wake zone) and GPS showed 31-34 MPH. Took 2.5 hours and...

    Lubricate Steering System

Doing maintenance on my boat. Everything done except I looked in my Service Manual and it shows the locations to lubricate the steering system on my Alpha w/power steering. Looks easy in the manual. However, I can't see them, let alone get near them. They are directly behind my...

    What to do with fuel?

Wow. I like that idea of filtering and reusing. How can you tell if there is water in there?

    What to do with fuel?

I am going to change my fuel filters for the first time and have a question. When I remove them, aren't they going to be full of gas/water? How do I dispose of this in our environmentally correct world?

Thanks, I won't grease any more.

    Grease Fittings

Is it OK that I already put some grease in there in the fall before winterizing without the motors running? It took a lot of grease and I just stopped putting it in because it took so much. Should I put more in with the engine running till it seems that it is full? I am somewhat new to...

    Openning Electric Engine Hatch

I purchased one at the Sea Ray dealer and they are going to send me the plug. It is used for the engine hatch and it can be used with a portable battery jumper. Thanks for the help and for anyone else interested in openning a hatch, it will work.

    Openning Electric Engine Hatch

I am aware of that method, but wanted to avoid it as the hatch is very heavy and didn't want to deal with it. A portable battery charger just seems to be a good solution if it works. Anybody use one?

    Grease Fittings

My 1999 SR with thru hull exhaust has Alpha 1 outdrives. There are 2 fitting on each side that grease for when the outdrive goes up and down. There is another fitting on the starboard side that I don't know what it greases. How do I get grease to the areas (upper and lower) of the outdrive...

    Openning Electric Engine Hatch

When my boat was winterized (by someone else), they disconneted the batteries and then shrink wrapped it. I am about to take off shrink wrap and start getting ready for the season, but need to open electric hatch to connect batteries. The boat originally came with a wire that clips to a battery...

    Ethenol & Gas Tank

:smt038 Thanks JeffM. I knew the answer was out there somewhere, I just didn't know where to look. I feel much better now.

    Ethenol & Gas Tank

I see that the gas dock at my marina will have 10% ethenol next boating season. I have read that this is not good for those that have a gas tank constructed from a poly. Is this true? How do I find out what type of tank I have is my recently purchased used boat? Thanks.

How does everyone wash the hull in their slips

I anchor in shallow, sandy bottomed areas and get in the water and wash the sides by hand. At the dock I'll wash the deck.

    Changing Gear Lube

Thanks. So is there a need to change the lube in the resevoir, as it seems like it isn't actually being used? How is that lube different from my half filled bottle in my dock box? Just wondering.

    Changing Gear Lube

When I would change the gear lube on my Alpha 1 on my 1987 Seville, I would drain it and then fill with the pump from the bottom to the top and put the plugs back in. My new boat (new to me) also has Alpha 1 outdrives, but also a resevoir on the engine that my other boat didn't have. This is...

    Engine Fogging

The question remains the same, can you spray fogger in an EFI throttle body but not an MPI?
