You've got a great story too! I tried uploading a couple of videos to share but it won't let me for some reason on this site. One is of my dash while underway and the other was just cruising on Puget Sound. I think you would appreciate them. I've pretty much finished up all of my tasks and...
Absolutely! Always happy to help a 250 brother. Feel free to reach out anytime. I'm a boat nut. My wife says that I have a one-tracked mind - Boats! Lol. I'll share a little story as to one of the reasons I bought a 250. I was working with one of my client's (a very large seafood company...
No kidding? Wow. So much for manufacturing standardization. That's crazy! I wonder why they use different patterns by manufacturing location? Sorry about that Jeff. Hmm - a local shop might be your only option. But on the bright side there are some very good guys out there can do an...
Hi Jeff,
It does sound like we have similar stories! Check out this website: https://sundancercanvas.com/
I think these guys can provide you with what you're looking for. I just found them by accident and I haven't purchased from them but I would probably start with them if I needed a new...
Hi Jeff,
I also have a 1998 Sundancer 250. I have the same two-part bimini top in the picture above and the same color. Seems to me that I found a site that makes these. Let me look for it and I'll pass it along to you. Had my 250 repowered with a new Mercruiser SeaCore 350 HP. The engine...
I’d like to share something that I just tried with amazing results. I had filled up the gas tank but didn’t burn off enough gas and the following week we had a heat wave here in the Puget Sound area. Found amber and yellowish streaks down the hull from the gas vent. I smeared some Dawn...
Mystery solved. Upon further inspection I found a crack in the brass compression nut that connects to the sink hot water tap in the the head compartment. A new nut and compression ring and all is dry again.
Update - I extracted the water from the compartment. Noticed it had color in it like what I use for my waterline antifreeze. Thinking it must be coming from my water system somewhere. Now need to find it.
After owning my 1998 Sea Ray 250 for 7 years I have just encountered the same problem. I keep cockpit cover over my boat during the summer and took it out for the first time yesterday. It was very rough coming out of the Port of Everett and by the time I got to my cabin on Camano Island I...
Thanks for the great pics ttmott. It really is a large endeavor. Good to know about replacing the rub rail right away too. I was wondering about how easy it would be to replace. Mine doesn't look too pliable and I questioned if it would be hard to put it back on or if it would just fit like...
Hello fellow Sea Ray captains. Thank God for this post and special thanks to member John Gordon who let me call and text him with questions and advice. I have a 1998 SR 250 Sundancer which is my pride and joy. Noticed that I was taking on some water in rougher seas. Not a lot but would see...
I’m having a very similar issue except my Atwood hot water heater never worked. Running hot engine doesn’t seem to heat it up either which I thought was strange. I bought a new element and tried to replace it last year. Omg - what a disaster. Maybe they sent me the wrong element but couldn’t...
Hi Mr. Colt,
I have a 1998 Sundancer 250 with all of the books and manuals. I can see about digitizing them and make them available to our group. It’s a great story how I acquired this boat so I’ll post it later. It’s great to be among other 250’s.
