    Mercruiser 260 Bogging after 45min

    I think it's Thunderbolt IV. I know it's electronic.

    Mercruiser 260 Bogging after 45min

I already tried the trick with opening the fuel tank when it happens. Still no joy. Air flies through that vent when I fuel up, so I don't think it's that.

    Mercruiser 260 Bogging after 45min

Ordinarily I would agree with you, but when I dumped the water separators and let it sit for an hour or so, I saw no separation at all. That's why I'm stumped.

    Mercruiser 260 Bogging after 45min

I have a riddle for everyone here. My boat (1982 Sea Ray Vanguard 310EC with Mercruiser 260 inboard engines; starboard engine replaced 3 years ago) has a problem with the starboard engine losing power and bogging after cruising for 45 minutes at around 26-2700rpm. I'm on plane at that point. It...

Sea Ray 310 Vanguard EC Props

Can someone please tell me what props the 310 Vanguard Express came with? Mine supposedly came with 17x16 props, but the engines come up just shy of proper WOT RPM (3800-4200). It came with the 350cid inboards. WOT for them is 3700. Do I need to go down to 17x15? About how much would those...

    Westerbeke 4bcg woes

So my new boat (1982 Sea Ray Vanguard 310ec) has a Westerbeke 4bcg gas genset in it. It runs VERY rich under load, even without the flame arrestor on the carb. When I looked down the throat while it was running, the center jet was just DUMPING fuel down the throat. Not even a mist! Just a steady...

    Seadancer Bimini same as Sundancer?

Does anyone know if a bimini top for a 1980s 270 Sundancer with a 10' beam will work for a 1984 Seadancer? Trying to save some $$$ over a custom one and trying to see what my options might be. Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Finally.. some pictures - full interior refit

Always nice when you have a sound hull to start with! I also like the lower helm. What kind of speed do you get with the perkins diesels? Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Finally.. some pictures - full interior refit

Absolutely amazing! Love the hardwood flooring on the cabin sole. Did you have to do any structural work to the stringers/bulkheads as well or just the interior and bilge? I would love to deep six the black carpet in my Seadancer for hardwood. Carpet just makes it harder to keep clean in my...

    Humminbird Helix Chartplotters

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

I've heard of some people drilling out stringers and filling with some kind of compound that binds to the wood and fills the stringers. I've also heard of a system called DryBoat that comes to your boat and injects hot and dry air into the stringers or whatever is rotten and then fills them...

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

My boat stays on the Tennessee River near Chattanooga. Interestingly, it has spent its entire life in Tennessee. Back to stringers, are those systems of epoxy filler any good? Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

There are no PVC inserts in the limber homes at all. Either it didn't come that way or somebody else corrected Sea Ray's mistake. How can you keep condensation out of your bilge? I don't permit my shaft seals to leak at all when I'm not there. If they leak I tighten them until they don't...

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

Surveyor said boat was completely dry, both stringers and transom. Only moisture that gets in the bilge is because of condensation (just from the ambient air), and my rudder seals were leaking a bit so they are being tightened when the boat is winterized this week. I instructed my marina that...

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

I wouldn't go that far, but the fact that there were so few made is what makes it stand apart to me. Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

As I said, I have a bad habit of worrying way too much about these things. I would hope that if the surveyor says the stringers are still rock solid on a 1984 boat and I keep the bilge as dry as possible, the boat will stay solid. Is it a case of "one drop of water can ruin everything?" or is...

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

If you have a boat that you intend to keep for a long time though, is it still worth it?

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

Even if my stringers ever get rotten (which shouldn't happen as dry as I keep my bilge; water anywhere is a threat to the boat everywhere), I have made up my mind that I am keeping that boat no matter what. If it needs $$$ to replace stringers and bulkheads then so be it. The beauty of an older...

Stringer Rot in Pre-Brunswick Sea Rays

My limber holes are glassed in and covered in gelcoat so I don't think that will be a problem. Last year the transom sounded dry by the surveyor. The surveyor said that the stringers were COMPLETELY dry by percussion sounding and by moisture meter, and if I don't have a problem with them now...
