I recently bought a 1999 260 DA, I know the engine has been rebuilt, but I noticed the other day that the outdrive has a “diesel” sticker on it. Mine runs on gasoline. So I’m assuming the outdrive has been replaced at some point as well. Question is......

1997 Sundancer 260DA, shifts and runs fine in forward but will not engage reverse. Revs as if in warm up mode. I know of a few reasons but looking for a complete list of reasons this might happen.

So Im having starter issues, I think. Starter has been rebuilt, still having problem. Started the engine yesterday but still had "clunks" while attempting. Teeth on bendix and flywheel show no signs of damage. Tried again today, starter turns then disengages.

The boat: 1997 sea Ray 190 ; 4.3 v6
Starter has been making a clunk sound prior to engaging and starting the motor. Started the motor on a hose prior to leaving for the ramp. Got to the ramp and the starter would engage then disengage and spin. Trip ruined.
Removed starter and took for bench...
WE just bought a 1997 Sea Ray 190 gold. The boat is in excellent condition, brand new interior last season, motor in great shape (400 hours), really please with the purchase. Can someone help me with some questions.
