Aluminum Fuel tanks and Stringers in classic sea rays

Sound advice. I'm torn between sedan bridge and EC Leaking flybridge concerns me. More fishing then cruising. I found a knowledgeable surveyor for sea rays. When I told him the 2 boats I was considering, both sea rays he advised the survey would start with stringers and bulk head and if found to...

Aluminum Fuel tanks and Stringers in classic sea rays

I'm not overly concerned with speed. I hear what you are saying on gas vs diesel. 16 GPH at 24kts seems a bit optimistic as does $2.65/gallon. Been doing some trip planning to get the boat home thinking a diesel boat. Not seeing many Marinas much under $3.00 for diesel. Of course I base that on...

Aluminum Fuel tanks and Stringers in classic sea rays

A little more information. Spoke with the 390DB owner today. I now have renewed interest. FW tank was replaced 8 years ago. He was not familiar with any issues with the stringers. Big Surprise. big blocks are MPI and 395 HP. I will need to get into that a bit more as they were installed by...

Aluminum Fuel tanks and Stringers in classic sea rays

thanks for your input gents. Hull and engine survey is in the cards. I was under contract on a 37 hatteras with DD 671N 1of the engines has issues found during the engine survey. Yes costly but far cheaper than a $15K engine rebuild.

Aluminum Fuel tanks and Stringers in classic sea rays

So will be looking at a 84 390 sedan bridge gasser and a 87 390 express with 3208 cats. I'm looking for real world opinions of dock talk. Are stringers on sea rays really a big concern on older boats? Next are aluminum fuel tanks cause for concern for leaking? thoughts thanks Mike

    Cost of windlass instalation.

If at Pleasant Harbor the marina is now owned by the county and that may explain why they don't really care if they get the work or not. If at Scorpion Bay it is odd they turned work away.

    Cost of windlass instalation.

Where I understand that boat is currently in heated storage and they won't begin launching for 2 weeks. And I first requested quote a month ago. It would be easier if I could swing by and talk to them but I'm in Az. and boat is in OH.

    Cost of windlass instalation.

Thanks for all the reply's. I should have given a little more information. I have a reconditioned ideal windlass that was removed from the boat. wiring is complete but there was deck work done so not sure it will be just a reinstallation or not. I am in the process of getting pricing for a...

1988-1989 30 to 34 foot Sedan Bridge owners

Well I'm going to try to resurrect this old thread. I have missed on a couple 34 sedan bridges. Considering a 1988 305 Sedan bridge. Would love some real world opinions. It is equipped with the small blocks. I had a 270 dancer with them and had plenty of power. Curious if the Sedan Bridge seems...

    1987 340 sedan bridge

Another question. I tried the search function but got so many unrelated threads I gave up. I'm curious what fuel consumption numbers are for the 340 DB. Carb 7.4's. At RPM and MPH at cruise and hull speed would be nice. I know I don't ask for much but GPH would be great as well. Far fewer DB's...

Had a big hole cut in my boat yesterday!!!

It's never about Need but always want. My thought was would I spend that kind of money on a thruster for a 340 with twins. First thought was no. Then I went back to my #1 rule. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Your boat your money GO FOR IT.

    Solid fiberglass or cored hull

Not going much larger. Last boat was an 83 30 ft dancer. I would hope the survey will let me know if boat has any intrusion issues. Of course I appreciate the caution. My question on hull was directed more at structural integrity. Boat will spend part of the year in the Sea of Cortez. Mike
