    This is a flat black finish. Pretty sure it was original, because my other vintage Sea Ray has the same thing inside the transom. Not sure it is even paint - looks like it could be some sort of sealer they sprayed on.

    I have a 1973 240 SRV that has a black paint or sealer of some sort in the engine bay and inside of the transom. Anyone know what this stuff is, and do they still make it?

    Removing old bottom paint

    What's the best way to remove old bottom paint? The paint is very chalky and thin enough to see the white gelcoat in places. I would like to just remove it if possible. The boat will not be moored and will be used in fresh water.

    Ok, thanks. The engine should be pretty much up to specs as far as power output goes, since that is where much of the work I will be doing will be focused. I pulled the heads last fall, and the cylinders appear to be in very good condition. I don't see many used 18" props on the market, so...
