The cables were mgf by Quicksilver. Check with your Mercury Marine dealer for part #'s. Hope this helps.

I have a 15x19 on my 88' 268DA and get 36mph at 4000rpm. Same motor and out dive. Dialing in the trim tabs and outdrive tilt also helps.

**** UPDATE ***** After letting the engine compartment dry and a healthy coating of WD-40, I made out pretty well. Starter and alternator where serviced and ok, batteries ok, I will check the hot water heater this weekend. Changed Hydraulic fluids in trim and outdrive tilt pumps. I have changed...

Water did get to the step down pump, maybe 5 gal. Pullng the plugs will be done, I'll check distributor cap as well. Was on Lake Murray, so fresh water. I would like to say "Thank you" to all that replied, your an awesome bunch !!!

Hi Gang, I had some bad luck this weekend and looking for some advise. The "J" hose on the water pump split (454Motor) and auto bilge pump shorted or never came on. Water to the valve covers and still running, nursed it to the ramp and trailered it. Drained well...... now the work begins ...

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what I hit, but cracked the lower bearing case, and weeping water at propeller bearings. Still runs and shifts fine...but I would like to replace the lower unit. Any experience SEI vs Mercruiser ??

Hello, New 268 DA member to the forum. 1988 DA with 1 motor 454, 330 HP Need some good advise, as I just blew my lower end of my Alpha1 Gen1 out drive. I'm looking to replace just the lower end. OEM is very expensive, and SEI has mixed results. I believe the ratio is 32/1 ?? Any advise or...
