Upper Mississippi Cruising - Labor Day Weekend

Hey Everyone, It's been a little while since I've been around here. Last year we sold our 300 Sundance, and this year we purchased a 92' 400 Express Cruiser which is currently moored in La Crosse Wisconsin (and we love where it's at!) We're looking for great stops within a days cruise of our...

Gas smell in cockpit and Engine room

It could be nothing, it could be a serious problem that could injure you, your family or anyone else near the boat at the time of issue. Until you 100% know what the fuel smell is and where it's coming from, treat it as dangerous.

    I/O or V Drive?

I've got an 86 300DA that I just had to replace the out drives on. Use this as a pro, or con, but they were original, cost me maintenance time each spring and fall to correctly winterize, change impellers, drive oil, pressure checks...etc. I got 28 years out of two Alpha 1 Gen 1 drives, and...

    PWC Fail

No idea if it's staged or not...like said above, you really cant tell anymore - and people make up stupid crap, just to make it up. I will say this however, I remember very well my first time on a jet ski years and years ago, and your instincts are ALL WRONG. If you're pointed at something...

new (used) 2006 SeaRay 340 excitement

No, not everyone follows the full procedure, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. My procedure doesn't vary, because my wife and 2 year old are on the boat quite often with me, and I'm not willing to risk an issue because I varied the procedure and forgot something. As soon as we enter the...

    Crash while docking.

From personal experience, I wouldn't mind seeing a license for anything larger than 26' or 28' being required...it wouldn't be a bad idea for any boat, but then you have that gray area on inflatables, fishing boats...etc.

Wow !! A 63 footer on our little 'ol lake?

That probably explains the "Lakefront cottage" portion. You have to keep a fuel line strung to the dock....

    Sporadic speaker 'pop' on stereo??

I'm assuming that it's a marine / auto type stereo like on most boats this era. If so it runs off 12 volts with a standard red black connection and a standby wire that may or may not be connected.

Alternator vs generator to charge batteries?

With a simple volt meter you should be able to test this by measuring the volts / amps going to te batteries. Its ran possible that your generator only charges your house batteries and each engine charges it's own battery. I've got my 300 setup this way, with an emergency switch on the dash...

2004 300 Sundancer purchase price help.

I'd consider 49k a good deal on that boat. I'd still request a full survey at the sellers expense of your choosing, and ask to see all the maintenance records. Bilge looked clean from what I could tell, those bravos are nice and shiny, with some corrosion on the right had one, I'd make sure...

    Sporadic speaker 'pop' on stereo??

I'd investigate ground wires first, a faulty ground will cause / allow interference to a stereo and cause popping like that. If your ground has started to fail, it could affect the closed circuit for the outlet. Just a wild guess.

2004 300 Sundancer purchase price help.

Which engines, which options, canvas included, trailer included? NADA guides says 50k for the low retail with nothing checked. Have a full boat and engine survey done. Could be a good deal, could waiting to sink. Survey will tell you what you need to know.

    NEW OWNER! 1995 330DA Orientation?

Their site is a little intimidating, and scattered, but I've been told they are great at covers. (never used them personally)...

    NEW OWNER! 1995 330DA Orientation?

I recently just took possession of a boat as well, and didn't get quite the white glove service that you're getting, so here are the things I had to track down on my own. :) Know where all your through hull seacocks are, what they do, and how to open close them. Know your fuel, water, and waste...

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

Thats excellent man, thank you! I'll take pics of my setup and post them for you when I get it finished. I think to make my roller idea work, I'm going to have to remove the tracks, but I'll keep good notes and let you know.

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I think I've got a solution for the rollers that I'll show you when I get the whole thing built. I found a computer desk (small walmart style) that had a keyboard tray on "rollers" that I'm rigging in. Looking forward to the pictures, they'll help me nail this project. Thanks!

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

Hey Sundancer lovers, I'm going to jump into this thread too. I'm new around here, and a relatively new owner of an 86 sundancer 300. Overall she's in pretty good shape, but I've been patching up a few areas of neglect. Can anyone help me source the Upper folding cabin door? My lower door...

    Fuel costs...what's yours?

We've been thinking of having our boat hauled in and splashed at Mackinac city, and spending a good couple / 3 weeks boating around the area and Mackinaw Island. We've been there once, but never boated there...did you get a slip up there at the dock? Who'd you deal with and what was your...
