Project is officially complete.
After my initial upload I had alot of work stuff going on so I hadn't been able to update the thread and I hadn't been able to complete the project until yesterday morning. I dropped the boat in the water today for the official op test after the garden hose test...
Cockpit isnt meant to be "cooled" moreso just to have a little airflow, the vent will be shut most of the time to ensure max cooling in the cabin. Duct insulation is something I will be looking into seriously, but likely will have to go with some sort of wrap.
Might be slow this time of year, especially since he is getting his boat ready to drop in, but I would say that he does excellent work, he has been in the business for a couple decades... reasonable prices.
Since he is semi retired he doesnt take on huge canvas projects but still does small...
Hmmm very valid point that I hadn't thought of... u think a simple wrap would do the trick? Supposed to get pretty hot pretty fast the next couple of days so I should be able to test for sweating since the humidity will likely be pretty high with all the moisture in the air right now...
Check out Charlie at Aquia bay marine works if ur in northern va. He just replaced 3 isinglass panels for me and cut in a rollaway window for me. Pics forth coming. Back window he put in a screen and a roll away window panel.
Haha, way ahead of you there brother... I bought a few for my house that I am throwing behind the false wall and will have it taped to the side of the condensation pan. Once I get a discharge port installed I will run the AC and pour some water into the pan to test it out.
No that is the electric control box that controls the ac and the pump. Its in the aft cabin starboard side under the captains chair behind the false wall. The picture of the unit was taken from the port side.
Also about the flex duct/tubing... obviously I woulda preferred insulated to keep the air cool but I couldnt find any in 2" and as tight as my space requirements were for the ducting I didnt look too hard... additionally sonce the tubing only travels max 6 feet on either path I dont see it...
Yeah, I'm not to sure how many extra Ill need but I plan to add another 3 inch in the aft cabin if needed and another 2 inch to the forward cabin valance. If that isnt enough than another 2 inch in the step as well.
The return will be in the aft cabin so it should pull all the cool air back as...
Been a while since I have been on here so I figured it was time to contribute.
So as the title states, I have been in the process of installing A/C on my boat for the last 2 weeks. The rain has held me back considerably as it seems like Virginia is in some Seattle Twilight Zone for the past...
From searching i have done batteries will charge even with the battery switched to off. I have not experienced any problems doing it like that. My greenblight does come on and the needle also indicates voltage. Perhaps the green light just doesnt work. Up to you if you want to try to replace...
Keep all your tools and as much heavy stuff on the port side :) seriously though, i used to worry about the same thing but searching i learned that others experience the same thing. I expect it to get worse when i put an airconditioner on the starboard side of the mid cabin behind the false wall.
My 2000 240 lists about an inch to the starboard side as well. Figured it was due to the weight of the batteries, hadn't been too concerned with it, but it will be interesting to see the possibilities people post up. Once I install my A/C on the starboard side of the aft cabin it will be...
I've been thinking of making a GPS purchase soon. The handheld is just not cutting it for me anymore. One thing I like about the garmin series is the auto route function where it automatically routes you through to your destination based on safe depths. To my knowledge this only works with...
just make sure that you NEVER turn the battery from 1 to 2 while the engine is running. As to why, it's early and my brain isn't functioning at 100% yet so I can't remember exactly, but I know it says that in my manual and I have read it several times on the forums here.
from looking at Ethan's Tanks system over the last week I found the manufacturer name (cruisair) in 2 places, on the control unit box which was mounted near the actual A/C unit and also on the thermostat itself. Hope that helps.
Manufacturer of ur a/c is cruisair running for 6.5 hours with no signs of leaking. Since the a/c was set to 55 degrees I'm wondering if the a/c running all day nonstop yesterday caused it to trip the breaker. So far the breaker hasn't tripped today, no leaks around the sump or around the drain...
