Had similar issue last year. One of my injector wires was broken causing intermittent firing for that valve. Mechanics missed it 3 times then my motor failed. Go through ignition coil, plugs, wires, then make sure all injectors are working properly. It’s most likely not your transmission.
Sorry to hear about your experience. He spent 9 hours on my 31 so I'm guessing maybe your boat might have taken longer. Either way, I hope he is able to help with your decision.
Call John Spencer, he's in Toms River and one of the best in the business. 732-255-4700. He did my last boat, and I spent 9 hours with him learning everything about it. Very knowledgeable and very thorough. I'm close by if you need anything further.
Morrisons in Beach Haven NJ started selling Slipstream gas and diesel 3 years ago. I have used their gas quite often and have had no problems. I have twin gas inboards. From what I have been told, it's similar to Valvtect, but I can report no problems since I've been using it.
6k can add up quick. I was towed a few years ago, shark river Inlet to lavallette area and it was 2k. It was covered by TowBoat US, but at least I can give you an example of rates. And that was one boat and one captain. If any other services are needed like pumps, multiple tow boats for soft...
Congrats on your new boat. Taking anchors aweigh advice you should be fine. I'd add wind into things to check on. It can make them rollers get big. You coming back in Townsends Inlet to get to Avalon? I'm gonna be down that way this summer. How is that Inlet?
Stay safe my friend.... Be smart about it. Gonna be a long night. Went through it with Sandy. Have to remember the definition of Hurricane, " The price you pay to live in Paradise!" Keep the faith.
The County has pump out boats that can come to you. They operate on VHF channel 9 and are free. I know the south end/tices area works almost everyday. Ocean Gate Yacht Basin and Good Luck Point Marina have fuel, both are located at mouth of the Toms River on south side. I'm pretty sure they...
I contacted them in the Spring and they asked me to send a pic of my boat when I inquired if they had something that would work. I got tied up on other projects and still need to send a pic to them. I am planning on this being my winter project. I will keep you posted once I follow up with them.
I would make the repairs where you are, or get towed back to port. I would not make that long a trip on one engine. It will take forever, and if something goes wrong with your good motor. I'd call around like Villain said for other mechanic options, or check with locals about references.
My...
Take your time and make sure the boat you get is comfortable and suitable for your needs and for Barnegat Bay. You don't want to go too light where you end up not using it as often as you like due to sea conditions keeping you st the dock. Took me three years to find my last boat, but patience...
I would not recommend docking at Waters Edge, use the mooring balls. 90% of the time the water is rocking there and I've seen some decent boats get banged up. It's choppy from the traffic in the channel, and fughettaboutit if it's a S SW wind. Pack a lunch and enjoy Tices, it's a lot of fun...
Follow the markers south, you will be fine. When you pass red marker 40 by cedar creek start heading towards Tices which will be about your 10 o clock port side. You will see the group of boats along the back of Island Beach. You can sneak in close if you want, but there's plenty of room to...
Baby steps. A dream is something we all work towards. For some, chasing that dream is the best part. Your many boating adventures are all part of the chase, so remember to enjoy the baby steps. Your current idea is flat out impossible. The weight alone (fuel, supplies, people) is not...
You need to barrier coat the bare fiberglass bottom after soda blasting. Will prevent any future blistering. It's not overkill, it's the process for a smooth maintenance free bottom, other than a fresh cost of multi season when needed. I'm pretty handy but I would never sand or strip the...
Fixed a couple small blisters, barrier coat put on, then painted. The entire process, including blasting, was 4 days. And that's only because I had to work one day in between!!
Soda blasting is one of the best things I ever spent money on for my boat. It's the way to go, call around for estimates, there are a lot of mobile vendors.
