So which finger do I have there? Looks nothing like the one you manufacture. I need to take the windlass apart. I think the spring is shot but the finger looks good…just doesn’t look like the finger in the posts.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but my new to me boat (2002 model) has this Progress 1 windlass but the finger looks entirely different. Even the manual shows the style in previous posts. Could it be that someone replaced the finger with a different one? See pics in case I'm missing something.
An update for posterity. Last week I changed the plugs again and swapped out the throttle position sensor. No change. I sprayed some carb cleaner around the throttle body looking for vacuum leaks (didn’t find any) then one quick shot in the throttle body itself. Ran the boat up above 4K rpm and...
Yes, the Mercruiser dealer ordered them for me after I originally spoke to Mercury directly (they told me to have a dealer call them and order the parts).
Yeah, I understand and I am fortunate. I think the marina simply didn’t want to do the labor if they couldn’t make money on the parts. Just a guess. They did indeed receive the parts from Mercury then allowed me to pick them up so I could install them. I mean why else would they quote me $3200...
Hi guys. Old thread, but the problem remains in the industry. I have a 2008 Chaparral 250 Sig with the Merc 350 MPI motor. Started having a "popping" sound come from the engine (video below). I replaced cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, and the cool fuel filter. No help. Finally, I called...
LOL! No doubt.
I like the idea of looking up north, but none of those boats seem to have a generator which is a must in this Texas heat as I want to anchor on the lake and watch a baseball game topside (Go Rangers!) while the ladies and kids can go below and relax in the a/c. What we liked...
Just returned from visiting the boat. Forgive my lack of nautical vocabulary, but I'll do my best to explain our findings:
1) I first verified the HIN...unfortunately it matched.
2) The surveyor was brought in by the broker.
3) He first looked inside the anchor locker and immediately noticed...
Sorry guys! Busy weekend out of town. I won't know anything until Monday. I do appreciate all of your comments. This thread has given me even more desire to stick with the Sea Ray brand. You all are great! I will for sure let you know what happens Monday. There's a little more to this that I...
Thanks again, everybody. I will do as much checking as I can without spending any money before walking away. But if the damage is real, I will walk away.
That's interesting! I have learned that a very reputable Sea Ray dealer in Texas (I won't name names) supposedly did a survey on this boat and didn't find the repair. I find that either very hard to believe, he was a poor surveyor, or maybe the HINs are incorrect and this isn't a problem that...
Well, IF I get her, I was going to possibly put her over at Cedar Bayou. Highport was my first option 6 months ago when I started doing my research, but Di called me back yesterday and told me that due to lake levels, boats had been moved out of many of the 30' slips and she had none to lease...
I can't begin to thank you all enough. I obviously want to cover all my bets...the first one being to verify the HIN and be absolutely sure this is the boat we're talking about. I got the HIN from the sales contract and have not verified it against the boat. I'm not holding out any hopes that...
