    WOT max rpm loss

So we had the boat cleaned and there was a bit of barnacle growth on the trim tabs and props. Tested today and went from 3200/3300 before the cleaning, to 4000 max rpm's at half tank of fuel and 2 people. Got on plane quick. That definitely helped alot but there is still a layer of gunk on the...

Thanks guys. Yeah its 4400-4800. We talked to the marina owner and they are going to haul the boat next week for a proper cleaning. Will post more then.

    WOT max rpm loss

So we've been noticing lately that its been really hard to get up on plane without putting one or two people at the front of the boat. I took some readings on the tach and at WOT my port engine RPM's are 3200 and my starboard is 3300. When we went back and looked at the marine survey we got done...

    You know what they say...

Got the call today. Turns out it's just a bad ignition coil. Very relieved. They said they think it is indeed the up solenoid not working, which is why the left engine won't go up. That might not get fixed until next week. The coil is supposed to be changed out tomorrow.

    You know what they say...

Haven't heard back yet. Called and left a message. I assume they didn't get to it today.

    You know what they say...

Ah, I see. I'll try the trailer up next time I'm down. We officially don't think the gear lube has anything to do with the right engine not starting. Our marina owner and mechanic are coming down to the boat tomorrow morning to inspect it and figure out what's wrong. Cross your fingers that it's...

    You know what they say...

Well the good news is we got more gear fluid. The engine tried to crank, but never would turn on. Something somewhere is preventing it from actually starting. And on top of that, the up solenoid on the left engine isnt working, so obviously it won't go up! Getting a mechanic to come out this week.

    You know what they say...

A bad day on the water is better than a good day at the office. So we left Scotts Hill today to get fuel at Wrightsville Beach, which is about a 20-25 minute drive via boat. All was well, we got fuel, and left Wrightsville. Right before I throttled up to get on plane, right engine cuts off...

How big of wake is considered 'No Wake'?

They just don't care. I had a time yesterday in the Wrightsville Beach area of trying to avoid being hit by others. At multiple points, I had a wall of boats coming at me across the entire channel. Like, hello? I gotta get through too. Seems that everyone was trying to go around each other...

    Well, this is interesting!

As the guys on Deadliest Catch say, my worst fear is fire on a boat. Same goes for me.

    Official 290 Sundancer Thread

I'm not sure how the batteries are laid out in the 2007, but in the 2001 we have 3 batteries. I believe devices like the radio, lighting, fridge, etc. run off the battery that powers the left engine (when not on shore power or generator). One Sunday a few weeks ago we forgot to turn shore power...

    Are SeaRay's that excellent

We just bought our first Sea Ray in March and couldn't be happier. Although it's a 2001, it had an in-depth marine survey done before hand and the previous owner took very good care of the boat. We found a lot of very small things that were relatively minor and easy to fix. We expected that...

    Heavy duty boat cleaners

We've been using the pink colored West Marine boat cleaner to clean our boat. We've got a small streak in the canvas that won't come out when we clean it. We're in need of some stronger cleaner for that. Small amount of oxidation on the hull in a few places as well. Also, our vinyl seat cleaner...
