    K&N flame arrestor

When I was looking at k and n filters, I came across the unconstrictor flame arrestor. It looks like a stock filter only twice the size. I think maybe I will try that, first thing though I cleaned my stock arrestor and will see how that works. I don't think it was ever cleaned.

    K&N flame arrestor

Would using a K and N filter increase my performance over a stock flame arrestor.

    How has your summer been?

Cold and windy this summer in WI. I rented a slip and bought a wakeboard in hopes of learning to ride. I have been out alot more this year than last but whenever it is nice enough to get to boat its been too windy. Looks like 1 week of summer which was late June. Like you no rain, water levels...

    prop ?????

I'm probably misjudging you, but I suspect this is all to see that needle on the other side of the 50 mark?:grin: No, Your right. I would also like to cruise at a little faster speed. Right now with the 21 at 4000, I'm cruising at 37 or 38. The 23 is more where I would like to be...

    prop ?????

Knotty bouy, how did you get the 4.3 to run a 23 prop. I have a little bigger boat a 190 with the 5.0 and it won't turn a 23. Did the fins bring up the rpms. 21 aluminum rpm 4900 top 47 23 SS rpm 4300 top 46 I'm trying to find a used 22. Wonder if a 4 barrel would help.

    New to using a slip

Just flipped the switch for the bilge, it turned on looks like it is always on. I have never used it so I think I will dump some water in and make sure it works.

    New to using a slip

Thanks, the slip doesn't have power, its basically a neighbors unused dock that I'm renting for the summer, I don't plan on leaving the boat in except weekends and holidays. How much does the bilge drain the battery if it isn't running? Obviously it may spring a leak but usually there isn't a...

    New to using a slip

I just rented a slip for the summer and have a couple of questions. Do I need to keep the bilge pump on when I leave it sitting in the water? Do I keep the trim down or up?

    Blue Plastic Drain Plugs

Same thing just happened to me, good thing I was running it in the yard, because when I tried tightening it it snapped off in my hand and water started flowing in. I just bought some cheap screw extracters and it turned out by hand. The old ones were missing the o rings which is why they were...

Is it possible to clean stern drives with toilet bowl cleaner?

I did both. My boat is 10 years old and I'm probably not as picky as most here, but I think it turned out pretty good. I also used it on the vinyl seats and they look like brand new. I don't think it is abrasive enough to cause damage but I guess try at your own risk.

Is it possible to clean stern drives with toilet bowl cleaner?

I did both. My boat is 10 years old and I'm probably not as picky as most here, but I think it turned out pretty good. I used it on the vinyl seats as well and they look like brand new. I don't think it is abrasive enough to sand down vinyl.

Is it possible to clean stern drives with toilet bowl cleaner?

If you use it try a small section first, but I don't see any scratches caused from the eraser. It seems to me to be the equivalent to using a polish.

Is it possible to clean stern drives with toilet bowl cleaner?

Don't know if this will help but I just cleaned my entire boat with Mr Clean majic eraser, it took 99 percent of the stains out with little effort. It also made it shine like it was just polished.

    Extreme winterizing

This will be my first attempt at winterizing, I had acouple of questions; 1. Is the best way to use the ear muffs and draw the antifreeze through? 2. Couldn't I just fill a 5 gallon pail with antifreeze and put the lower unit in and draw it through that way? 3. Before I do either method should I...

    tilt/trim drive questions

Ok so I dug out the manual, this is the operational and maintenance manual for gas engine and alpha drive 1997. "Also the Power Trim system "trailering" feature allows the operator to raise and lower the drive unit for trailering, beaching, launching and low speed(below 1200 RPM engine speed)...

    tilt/trim drive questions

I guess I'll have to take my chances with trailer mode because I'm sick of having to rebuild props. Full trim is about 28" draft and when I use trailer mode I just bring it up to about a 20 to 24" draft. Unfortunately I have to keep it there for about a quarter mile.

    tilt/trim drive questions

I've been trailor tilting lately when I launch because the spot I put in is between 2 and 3 ft of water, will this damage anything? I hit a rock about a month ago and have had to trim it higher then it would normally go to avoid the rocks.

    New boat, host of problems

Thanks, I did try a SS prop and it didn't exhibit the same problem but I only tried it the 1 time because it didn't work well with my boat, the other problem is I keep hitting rocks with the prop that may be bad so now I don't have either to try. When they reworked it the first time they said...

    New boat, host of problems

I'm currently experiencing what sounds like a similar issue, I have a 98 190 with alpha drive. It only happens when I first get out. I don't think it is actually popping out of gear, but over revving due to cavitation. I pull back on the throttle and it is still in gear. I usually at this point...
