The standard carpet offers very little true sound reduction. Maybe 1 decibel. It's value is cosmetic. Sounddown makes a thick "carpet pad" that's about one inch thick, heavy foam and lead sheeting. Weighs about 10# per square foot. I've used it on my Wellcraft. It may have lowered the...
SeaRay Chuck,
That's certainly faster than I've heard. I gave up on the 2002 EC in Tierra Verde, Florida. She's the one that only got up to 28 knots at 2570 RPM, full load. I think her props were pretty filthy. Going to Tennessee to sea trial a 2001 EC with the same engines next week. We'll...
Dear Group, I'm honing in on the purchase of a 2002 Express Cruiser. The Canvas is pretty shot. As a means of making an adjustment at survey, what might new canvas, standard canvas and isinglass, cost for this boat? Also, does anyone have any idea of where to procure this? I tried Great...
I've done some sea trials this weekend, and this is what my decibel meter read. dBA readings with slow weighted response:
Sea Ray 2000 400 Dancer with 3116 Cats:
23 knots- Cruising Speed- 82 dBA
28 knots- WOT- 85 dBA
Sea Ray 2002 410 EC with Cummings 6 CTAs:
23 knots- Cruising Speed-...
Thanks everyone for your input. This coming weekend I'm going out on a 400 Sundancer with Cats (year ~2000) and will get decibel readings. I'm sea-trialing my prospective 410 EC (with Cummins) on Monday and will be able to report the actual numbers. Stay tuned.
I'm buying a 2002 41 EC which has suffered in the Florida sunshine. Some of the decals and stripes need replacement. Any idea where these can be found?
Thanks!
Thanks for that boattest information. Unfortunately it's slightly apples to oranges. These test results are for a Sundancer with twin 3126 Cats. The EC I'm looking at has twin Cummins, 450 HP. Dancer vs. Express, Cat vs. Cummins. With the engines right beneath the helm, I've got to believe...
Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread
I'm new to this website, as I'm shopping for a 2002 EC with Cummins diesels. I have a post somewhere in these threads about the noise level at the helm. I thought I'd try this thread as it seems particular...
The boat I'm looking at is a soft top. I suspect it might be somewhat quieter than a hard top. I know Sea Ray developed an underwater exhaust in an effort to reduce noise. What I'm looking for is something around 80 dBa or less at the helm.
I am considering a 2002 Sea Ray Express Cruiser with twin 450 HP Cummins. Does anyone know the sound level, in Decibels, at the helm at cruising speed?
