What is with the seats in the bow area? Those dont look comfortable at all. Barely any pad on the back rests and no pad around the sides?!? are they cheaping out?
Here is my 2005 240 Select... .COMFY and CURVY
I like some of the finishes in these newer boats. 2013 styling is nice. But...
We are going out tomorrow for the day. Clear and 80F, calm to no wind. River gauge is just about perfect (normal) levels at the railroad bridge gauge in Dubuque.
I spent some time with mine today actually. I've been using a FLEX L3403 VRG Lightweight Rotary Polisher, it's about 4.5 pounds.
Seems well built, but I am not a pro or anything. Easier on the arms though.
ya, I was just cleaning my ski locker yesterday because of all the rain. Tons of dirt and grime to clean out and I have to start from the front and wash all the way back via the locker and then the rear. It sucks.
Just to be clear.. .I am a newbie and I dont know what a lot of things look like. So any education is appreciated. Don't worry about talking down to me. haha.
I was cleaning out my ski locker and noticed the water coming into the rear bilge under the gas tank and through some tape looking crap (not sure what that is..) Anyway... also saw a part on the bottom.
What is the black cylinder thing that is attached via a metal ring? Its just loose in...
I am partial to the pewter one. I get compliments all the time on the color. It looks really great and it hides dirt and scratches pretty well too.
Great looking boats. That extra space, with the sink and such is nice. I am not sure I would use the sink enough to need that space. They are...
2011 they switched to SLX, but its the same line as Select.
We love our 2005 240 Select. I really love the style and lines of the boat from that mid-2000 time frame. They seem well built also.
As far as I can tell the sound proofing is all stock in this thing and doesn't look very impressive at all. I was always thinking I would rip out the factory stuff and put in something more serious later, but at this point I dont know if its worth the effort. It really just isn't loud enough...
Had a great time until we hit a massive log on the Mississippi near Dubuque, IA and busted part of my outdrive and took the gel coat off the keel.

So, the boat still seemed to run fine, the video above was shot after we hit the log. I've got a very slow leak of the green/blue drive fluid coming out right at the seem between the upper and lower casing.
I have a feeling its going to cost me to fix this up. so... Q#$%!@
I guess thats...
Well, we had another great day (mostly) on the river. Went north of lock 11 and up to Guttenberg. River was still high, and unfortunately we nailed a large, mostly submerged, log.
The boat is at the shop, so I dont know the total $$ damage, yet, but I scraped some paint off the keel, about 2...
I didn't spend a ton of time looking at the sonar yet. It seems to work just fine, I didnt tune anything. I wont really be fishing on my boat at all, so the sounder is complete overkill for knowing how deep the water is. The boat has the in-hull sounder for temp and depth, but its just on the...
I need to pick the brain of someone who knows these waters. Where are the good beaches you speak of? Where is some good water for tubing and swimming? (sand bottom? deep enough to swim? etc)
Thanks for any advice you have. This was our first time out on the river and I have a lot to learn.
