You can cut some 4x6 pieces of 3/8 plywood, put some construction adhesive on one side and use that to reinforce the fiberglass when you run the bolts through. My 185 was pretty thick anyway, but I did that just to be sure.
So I went and worked on it a bit tonite. The fuel filter hasn't been replaced since '12, has about 110 hours on it. I bought it last year and for some reason never replaced it. Removed flame arrester, it was pretty clean but I cleaned it thoroughly. Pulled dist cap, checked it and rotor both...
I don't know what prop was on it originally because I bought it used and was told they changed it. My local dealer says it was either 21 or 23 stock. I've been thinking maybe carb gummed up or something. I always run stabil through it before I winterize but these fuels lately do suck. Maybe I'll...
The guy I bought the prop from said it should be great too! My boat has the 1.81 gear ratio.
This is my first boat so I don't have any direct comparisons other than a friends Bayliner which is about the same size but has the 3.0. His has better get up and is up on plane quickly. I guess user...
I ended up trying the Michigan Wheel 20P 4 blade and now the hotshot is terrible, takes forever to get on plane. If I'm turning while towing tube or wakeboarder the power fall off dramatically. How the heck did the performance change that much from 1 degree? I'm so confused on which way to go...
No, they didn't have that, they had the shampoo and the cleaner/polish. I got both and it did nothing. I don't have a lot of mildew either, just on top of the sun pads where the cover lays on it.
Tried the starbrite today, it didn't really help at all for the mildew. The rest of the seats came out great but I think I need something with bleach in it.
My seats are getting dirtier and dirtier and nothing I use seems to get them clean. There are some dirt stains and what looks like mold starting on the sun pad. I haven't tried any bleach products as I'm nervous they won't be good for the material or stitching. What do you use?
No apologies, this is what I was looking for. I was hoping someone with a similar boat had gone through this already and had a good suggestion on what to get. I don't have the original 3 blade aluminum prop, it got beaten up by a few rocks so I got the High Five and was unimpressed. I think the...
I have a 2010 185 Sport with 4.3 TKS, NON EFI so it's the 190 HP version. I had a 19P high five on it and was unimpressed with the performance. It was a little better out of the hole but I lost a ton of top speed and cruising RPM was about 3800 RPM.
I usually have about 2 adults and 2 kids on...
Thanks Wazzu, I used the Mercury Prop Selector and one of its recommendations was the High Five 19P, which wasn't good at all. That's why I was hoping for someone's real world experience..
Hey guys,
i have a 2010 185 Sport with V6. Mostly used in lakes, we tube, wakeboard and kneeboard and just cruise a lot. I tore up my stock alum prop last year and got a 19P High Five. I'm really not impressed with the performance, it cruises at a higher RPM and almost has a slipping type feel...
