Trim limit / trailer button questions. .. not what you might first think!

Holy cow Boats, be careful. If you trim up too far while engine is running you can not only destroy your U-Joint but the drive plate connecting the engine to the outdrive. Thats why there's a trim limit switch. If it was me I'd replace em both and the bellows if your the least suspect about the...

    268DA and Weekenders

NZ268, I've been running a set of Michigan wheel 15x19 SS props with 1.98 out drives engines properly timed but carburetors jetted for sea level. At an elevation of roughly 3600 ft. and cruise at 34-3600 rpm (more 3400 than 3600) on fairly calm water with full fuel, water and gear for 5 people...

    Throttle management while cruising

I'm curious how you more experienced skippers manage your throttles while on extended cruises. What percent of the time do you spend at displacement speeds VS planing? Am planning a trip to lake Powell for a week mid September & really want to get to know my 268 & see what kind of "legs" she's...

    Timing '89' 4.3l LX

As I posted in another thread, during seatrials my new to me 268da was 'cackling' out of the port engine's carburetor at WOT. This afternoon after purchasing a new timing light I checked the timing on the engines. The engines are 1989 with thunderbolt ignitions. Port...Right at TDC...no wonder...
