Holy cow Boats, be careful. If you trim up too far while engine is running you can not only destroy your U-Joint but the drive plate connecting the engine to the outdrive. Thats why there's a trim limit switch. If it was me I'd replace em both and the bellows if your the least suspect about the...
Hi MileHi,
At current lake levels at Powell Its going to be tough to find what your looking for, The campground at Bullfrog is roughly 1.5 miles from the marina. Maybe look at Flaming Gorge? Its a pull from Rifle to Meeker and another from Vernal over the Uinta's but the weather is nicer and...
NZ268,
I've been running a set of Michigan wheel 15x19 SS props with 1.98 out drives engines properly timed but carburetors jetted for sea level. At an elevation of roughly 3600 ft. and cruise at 34-3600 rpm (more 3400 than 3600) on fairly calm water with full fuel, water and gear for 5 people...
I'm curious how you more experienced skippers manage your throttles while on extended cruises. What percent of the time do you spend at displacement speeds VS planing? Am planning a trip to lake Powell for a week mid September & really want to get to know my 268 & see what kind of "legs" she's...
As I posted in another thread, during seatrials my new to me 268da was 'cackling' out of the port engine's carburetor at WOT. This afternoon after purchasing a new timing light I checked the timing on the engines. The engines are 1989 with thunderbolt ignitions.
Port...Right at TDC...no wonder...
I'd be interested in the Tachometer & Trim gauge + bezels if available & also the green bezel on the dash for the halon fire extinguisher if its in good shape. And also the rolling "door" from the aft cabin.
Hi all.
If you'll bear with me I'd like to share our initial impressions of our new to us Sea Ray. Any advise, recommendations or hints are greatly appreciated.
This is how she was set up for last weekend:
1989 268DA w/ twin 4.3L LX engines + 9.9HP Suzuki as a kicker, each main engine has a...
Thanks all....
just me, been following all your posts in the 268da thread, lots of good info! Thanks. Will be posting about her shakedown cruise and asking for suggestions later. Been looking for this boat for 10 years or better and finally found her.
Here's a couple pics. Will be on Lake Powell out of Bullfrog during spring and fall and plan to be on Flaming Gorge or Strawberry during the heat of the summer.
As a new proud owner of a '89' 268 DA I've learned more from this website than I thought possible about these wonderful boats. All I can say is thank you from the many members!:smt038
