99% of the time I had 4 people aboard -- even with a full tank and a couple coolers -- 300HP was more than adequate. But, that of course is a personal opinion. The 250 jumped up on plane and ran out to the low/mid 40's with that load. Things happen very fast on the water at 40 MPH.
I just stumbled across a BoatTest video on the 2015 250 SLX -- they indicated the ski tower is standard. Also, the boat they tested had the 350 -- the testers were happy with it.
I'd give more thought to the ski tower/ radar arch. It has an integrated ski pylon -- I never used it but I'll bet it's a ball to ski behind with the attachment so high on the pulling boat. Further, really looks good. I'd trade the higher HP motor for that option in a heart beat
sounds like a...
One other thing -- the sport tower was worth every penny. No sun while you're running -- plenty of seats available in the sun. While on the hook, the bimini up with the sport tower was great -- the sun pad and the bow seats were still out in the open. I think it's a big plus for resale as well.
My boat ran about 46/47 with a 1/2 tank or less and one other person on board. I wanted the 496 -- the 350 was more than adequate. Things happen awfully fast at 45 MPH on the water. I had Captains Choice exhaust as well. Loved it. My wife, not so much -- she referred to that option as a--holes...
Mine was the float switch -- paddle. The darn thing won't turn on until there is an inch to 3/4" of water then leaves about a 1/4" -- has to do with the pump losing prime. This is the case with all bilge pumps.
In my opinion Sea Ray did a rotten job with the design of that locker. Should be...
My boat is in a lift as well but it's not covered. All I have is the bow and cockpit canvas. I'm pretty sure my water in the ski locker is coming from rain. It poured a few days ago and my ski locker was really wet. I got all the water out but it continued to ooze out of the center floor plug...
I hope your ski locker was dry -- my guess is not. I plan to call Sea Ray customer service again and see if I can get in touch with one of their production people. I'll bet they would know what's going on and how to fix it.
If I have any luck, I'll post.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. Trying hard to get this resolved -- looks like the water in the locker is a design issue so it'll be difficult to find an alternative. The water coming from under the center plug is really frustrating. I cut a section of sponge and jammed it into the void under the plug...
Any 250 SLX owners out there with this problem?
This is really concerning to me -- I could end up with a "wet" boat and no resale value.
I've talked to Sea Ray customer service twice -- told me to go to a dealer -- in a nice way but not much help
I always have water in my 250 SLX ski locker -- I think that's due to the fact the bilge pump that attends that area leaves 3/4" of water. That's the manufactures spec for Rule and Attwood. Any 250 SLX owners see that differently?
Second, If I step on the floor of the ski locker, water comes out...
I'm fighting some "water intrusion" as well. My ski locker is always wet. The pump located just aft of the locker takes about an inch of water before it turns on. So water is typically sloshing around in the locker, particularly after I wash the floor. There are several plugs in the floor of the...
anyone know or have a good idea when the new model 250/270 SLX will come out. I'm asking because I want to buy one now -- a new model should cause the used prices of this model to go down a bit.
I checked the search function and could not find a thread on this topic.
Thanks in advance for any...
