Thanks everyone for your input. To clarify, problem is not overheating - it's running too cool. Sounds like I need to flush the engine to eliminate any remaining sand and prevent additional clogging of the thermostat.

Hey Soggy Dollars. I was hoping I'd get my 260 back in the water by this weekend - not gonna happen. Good news is the work is being done now and (knock on wood) it appears to be just the oil pump. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a $2K bill. Never thought I'd say that!
