I live in Seattle, Microsoft layed off 5000 people today. This is the first time in the companies history they've had layoffs.

Are you sure you could get what you owe if you "Had to" sell your 42 or 34 in a relatively quick time frame? My little lake cruiser is paid for, but if I have to sell it in a hurry, I'll be lucky to get 1/2 what it was worth 8 months ago. Everyone's selling, no one's buying.

Fortunately my boat's paid for,but if I were to sell it (if I could) I'd be lucky to get 1/2 what it's worth. Maybe I'd throw my hot tub and TV on "Craigslist" first. I don't use those in the summer anyway.

That thing takes more abuse at 40 on the water than 65 on a smooth highway. It just seems to be another thing in the way when it's down. I started out by taking it down (layed it in the boat or in the back of my truck) it just got in my way and stepped on a few times.:smt009

Whatever puts you at ease. I've towed mine in the up position for thousands of miles and the only problem I have had, is rinsing the bugs off the boot. No big deal. Besides, it looks cool in the up position. That's the important thing.:thumbsup:

The Marina doesn't carry it, neither does the "Boat Doc". He carries the the old stuff, whatever that is. He also specializes in outboards. Thanks for the info. anyway, it doesn't go unappreciated.

Gear lube is oil. Just a heavier weight. I'm in Mossyrock WA. There's nothin' round here.

The only problem with that is the low oil alarm. That sucker is loud. It sucks to be in this position. I just had it serviced before my trip and getting gear oil didn't even cross my mind. You learn something every day.

Ok then. Can anybody tell me what the weight of the "Mercruiser" high perf. gear oil is?

You got something in the speedo inlet hole and it needs to be blown out. There's a quick disconnect fitting in your outdrive that's easy to get to, pull it apart, and blow air through it. It's happened to mine four times now and it's an easy fix. It's not a warranty problem and the dealer will...
