    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

Crickets out there... I guess we've collectively put together every single sandy anchorage on the bay! ;-) I'll continue to update the map as long as I keep getting contributions. And the map will remain free and publicly accessible to anyone who wants to use it to explore (new to you)...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

On the Queenstown sandbar... It looks like you have about an 8' channel out from the sandbar that drops off immediately to a 2' ledge. Is there an approach that has a more gradual slope? And do you usually anchor on the south side of the sandbar or can you get behind it on the north side?

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

The Sandy Anchorages map is actually already publicly available (just not publicly "editable"). All you have to do is go to the link below and bookmark it. I just don't want every gunkhole with a mud bottom added to it. There are already several resources in print and online that list every spot...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

Not every sandy location is in a weather protected hidey hole. But places that directly face the bay like Tolchester Beach and Kentmorr beach offer shallow anchorages that are perfect for calm days when the bay is mostly flat. Plus, if anything really nasty does kick up unexpectedly, both of...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

The list is growing... started with 6 I had personal knowledge of and now it's up to 34 that stretch from the top of the bay all the way down to the mouth! Keep em coming, especially if you know of any spots between the bottom of Kent Island all the way down to the Rappahanock. Just...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

Busy adding new spots as they come in from lots of different sources. You can watch the map grow in real time since it's online. From the bottom of Kent Island to the Rappahannock is really where I'm missing sandy bottom anchorages. If you have any that you'd like to add to the map, please...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

Great suggestions from ALL of you! (Can always count on the SeaRay crowd). Keep em comin! NOTE - Fairlee Creek is actually a purposeful omission. I like havin' a Pain in D Ass with a rum floater at Jellyfish Joel's as much as the next guy. But there's no sandy bottom at Fairlee that I'm aware...

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

No worries, I've got this request up at several locations plus I'm asking boating friends directly and I've asked PropTalk if they'd like to collaborate on building the map too. So it's growing slowly but surely.

    Chesapeake Bay - Sandy Anchorages

Every captain on the Chesapeake knows the usual spots like behind Hart Miller Island where boaters congregate to break out the barbecue grill and take a dip in the water on sunny weekends during the summer. But almost every captain also knows a few local anchorages where they can drop anchor or...

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

Following the original thread theme... There's another shallow entry (on the charts) location that I'd like to add to my dock bar hopping list that's in the same general area... Brewers Landing Bar & Grille, one waterway south of Middle River in "Back River". It looks good til you hit the...

Can I get a confirmation on the approach I posted?

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

This first picture was the approach I "tried" and couldn't find anything but 2' depths... So is THIS the approach you're saying I need to take to find a clear path ??? Crazy Tuna is a cool place, but they don't really compete for the same crowd as Sunset Cove. Tuna has a nice Tiki Bar, but...

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

Actually I'm up there on a pretty regular basis dock bar hopping in Middle River. So if you could screen shot your 370's Garmin track into RBW's and post it here that would be Awesome. I'm sure I'm not the only one that is missing out on those dock bars because of all the charts saying it's too...

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

Yeah, the channel itself is no problem. Even at extreme low tides I've never seen the depths shallower than 7 feet. But what I'm talking about is the cove off to the "East" of the actual channel, where RBW's is located. The NOAA and Garmin charts all show the entire cove at only 2' depth. Your...

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

What kind of depths do you see there at high tide? And is there any specific approach that's better than any other? Like should I hug the north side where all the piers are, or should I just approach through the middle of the mouth of the cove?

    Chesapeake Bay Navigation Question...

Looking for anyone familiar with the Craighill Channel / Hart Miller Island area of the Chesapeake bay, and making the approach to either of the following locations by water: Row Boat Willies - 9033 Cuckold Point Rd, Sparrows Point, MD 21219 Dock of the Bay - 9025 Cuckold Point Rd, Sparrows...

    Any Chesapeake Bay Boaters Here?

A newbie to the site and just closing on a new boat (new to me) this Friday. Looking for "friends with boats" on the Chesapeake Bay that are interested in meeting up for dock bar get togethers, daytime & overnight raft-ups, poker runs, etc... on the bay this summer. If you're in the Upper...

First Born, How long does it typically take for new posts to show up in any given forum on this site? I added a new topic yesterday morning and still don't see it posted yet? Larry
