loss of a good friend and CSR member

It is with my deepest sorrow and regrets that I report the passing of one of my closet friends, and Club Sea Ray members. John Martin, known to Club Sea Ray members as XravenX apparently drowned on Sunday evening September 3rd. John was at the yacht club that evening and having a good time...

Boat fire, Sue Creek at our Yacht Club

What a day on the water! Saturday we all hop on XRAVENX, John’s small boat for a “Runabout Poker Run”. What a great day for a boat ride. So we precede out of Baltimore Yacht Club for our first stops in Back River. The first stop was at Brewers Landing for lunch, and then the second was Weavers...

Chesapeake Bay cruise with the Yacht Club

We just had a wonderful time on the bay with the Baltimore Yacht Club with ports of call in Herrington Harbor, Cambridge Hyatt, and finally St. Michaels. Having done this cruise in the past there really was not much difference expect this time it was with a yacht club, and being a new member...

    Wimpy Sea Ray horn

Are you tired of the wimpy Sea Ray horn; you know the one, the one that sounds like the old “Road Runner” cartoon? Well I changed mine today with this one here, it fits right in, and best of all sounds like a horn. Now it is no rail road air horn mind you, but at least it is loud. I got it at...

Who says the water is not hard?

Yesterday while breaking up the raft-up, I’m on the bow releasing the front line when I hear a splash! Yep Sandy went overboard! She said she was pushing off and just fell in. Turns out she broke her finger in the process, middle one too! I’m sure glad she does not work for a Cruise Line!

    Floating debris

Ok, I know it’s early in the season and at this time of the year you have to watch out for floating debris, but this is ridiculous….. http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/floating-7-foot-head-leaves-rowers-scratching-theirs-150612279--abc-news-topstories.html

Boating Liability issues: truth or Myth?

I recently had my isinglass replaced and during the conversion with the Canvas installer I asked him about an option I was considering. I had seen several boats at our marina that had their front isinglass sections modified to include a screen section, with a zip up flap. I liked the idea and...

    Power Vent Window

Has anyone replaced the rubber gasket for their windshield power vent? Mine is leaking which I would like to fix but when I went to order one from our parts department they told me is was around 150 dollars! 150 bucks for a piece of square rubber gasket which is probably no more than 12x12...

    Removing port hold windows?

Sorry about the wrong thread title, I meant "Port Hole"! My starboard port hole is leaking water on heavy rains. I have already replaced the rubber seal and I am sure it is tight, so next step is to remove it and re-seal I guess. Yesterday I removed the inside frame completely, but the window...

    How accidents happen.

Yesterday on my way home from the Baltimore Yacht Club I made three stupid mistakes, all within twenty minutes. The Admiral took the car home and I took the boat so I was boating alone. Now maybe it was the fact my mind was still on the pathetic showing of a football game I was watching, but...

    Interesting sights at Fairlee Creek.

There was another post here about “Dock Queens” and how some people with boats never leave the dock. Well here are some pictures of just some of the crazy sights they miss by staying home. Labor Day weekend at Fairlee Creek, you just never know what will turn up. Ran into some good friends...

Transient Marina recommendations for Wild Wood New Jersey.

It is never too early to plan our boating trips, especially when they are big ones. So again I am enlisting the help of my fellow CSR members on the pros and cons of marinas for about a 5 day stay in Wildwood N.J. Several seasons ago we made the trip from Baltimore to New York and the members...

    Canvas pull tabs

For those of you like me that like to keep links to web sites for boating related issue here is one for you: http://www.zippermend.com/ I had broken several of the pull tabs on my canvas, and trying to open and close the canvas with only the tab on the outside was a real pain. I searched the...

    Another thousand!

    Baltimore Sailabration Pictures

With all the boats at BIH I am surprized no one has started a picture thread yet, so here it goes: Another boating adventure to Baltimore Inner Harbor that did not disappoint! This time it was for the "Sailabration" celebrating Baltimore’s and Fort McHenry’s role in the War of 1812. Leaving...

    Is it just me??

When leaving our Cove to go out the Gunpowder River we have a Railroad Bridge to go under with a low clearance. Leading up to the bridge and right after we clear is a narrow channel you must stay in as the water gets very shallow on either side. Now as we clear the bridge there are several day...

    The shrink wrap is off

The shrink wrap is off, the bottom has been painted, new zincs installed and yesterday the FINAL coats of wax and polish applied. Sandy’s Beach is ready to go. All I can do now is wait on our Marina to tell me I can splash. BTW, I did check, my insurance is covered as well as my “lay-up clause”...
