Thanks again for all the info. I do have a Garmin MFD as a backup so I have about settled on upgrading the Garmin with a Canada chip and using paper charts. My lovely 1st mate enjoys following everything on paper. I realize this trip is going to cost a ton in fuel, so I'm not trying to cheap...
Thanks all for the advice.
Twomad. 1000 islands to Wilmington, that's a trip. We are about 100 miles by water from Wilmington past Beaufort up the Nuese River to the neat little town (colonial capital of North Carolina) that is New Bern. Also home to Hatteras Yachts. Let me know if you make...
Planning a trip starting in May from North Carolina to Washington DC, to New York then up the Hudson, to the Erie Canal, then Oswego Canal, the 1000 islands, then to Montreal, on to Lake Champlain, back down the Hudson River and back home. Will be travelling with our boat, shadowed by our...
I've owned a Sea Eagle Yacht Tender with an inflatable floor for 3 years now. Had it on my davits for a two month trip to Florida on the ICW and I use it on the brackish Nuese River in NC. Mine is kept in the garage unless I'm using it and with a 6 HP 2 stroke it will run 19 mph with one up. I...
Thanks for the help/suggestions. I'm really hoping it can be fixed rather than replaced. We have a local guy who works on marine fridges and air conditioning units so I guess I'll call him. If I've learned anything when it comes to "Harry Boat Owner" repairs is that you have to know your...
Hello,
I'm looking for some diagnostic help with my Norcold DE441. It has always cooled very well, but after not using it for 6 months I switched it on (after reset) and it just cycles on and off about every 20 seconds. It appears to be getting a little cooler, but it certainly isn't acting...
I really like Progressive on my 330DA. I had a $6600 claim (bent a prop and shaft) 1 month after I had the boat. They were great. Very attentive and helpful. The next year they lowered my premium by $50.
I'll stay with them as long as I have the boat
Good luck, Dan
I had the same issue with backing flaking, and at times sticking to the decking. Rather than replacing with OEM, I went to a local carpet store, found a commercial grade tan indoor/outdoor carpeting that had a planking effect mimicking the look of teak. I traced the old carpet on butcher paper...
I have had a Oregon Scientific Advanced Weather Station with Atomic Time - Weather 500 unit for at least 3 years. I have it in the salon with a remote temperature/humidity sensor and readout at the helm. It is very helpful and reliable, but then I'm only interested in the salon temp and...
Just want to take a minute to thank all you who post here. I was having trouble with my windshield vent motor sticking and stopping intermittently. I used the fix that I read here and IMHO it saved me hundreds. Disconnected the vent motor, used some WD-40 and screwed the plunger in and out...
Jim,
Mine is a 97, but I believe they are configured the same. The two starboard batteries (I use cheaper batteries) start the generator and the starboard engine. The port side batteries (I use two rather expensive Sears Diehard Platinum 31Ms) are the house batteries and they start the port...
I will renew my search tomorrow. We are still having weather in the 70s and I want to spend 2 or 3 nights out with the Admiral before it gets to crispy. Thanks
You know I think I saw something that looked like a bracket on the transom wall about in the middle. With a gen set and closed cooling system piping there isn't much room in my bilge to crawl around. Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks
Yeah, but it is so loud it echoes through the bilge. Actually when I tracked the vent hoses it appears it has to be at the stern on the port side, but the sound and vibration appears strongest on the starboard side.
It's still boating season here in Eastern North Carolina and I have a bilge blower that is growling like mad. I feel like a Rookie cause I've spent time in the bilge trying to locate the blower motor without success. Anybody out there able to tell me where they hid the blower on a 97 330 DA...
I recently broke the plastic housing encompassing the metal grab ring on the anchor/chain locker on the bow. Does anyone know where to find a new chain locker latch for a 97 330 DA?
Thanks in advance...
Thanks JB, I'll see which filter I have and go from there. You are very imaginative with the recharge thing. Appears the new filters retail for $50+. Always something to keep it interesting...
I'll apologize in advance if this is too simple a question, but I searched the site and couldn't find specifics, so here goes.
I noticed an odor yesterday after using the Vacuflush (no jokes please). Appears to be coming from a hull vent. Can someone with a late 90s 330DA tell me if and where...
I was boarded by US Coast Guard in Georgia coming back from Florida. They asked if I had a firearm on board and I said "yes." They just made sure I did not get to the gun while they did their "safety inspection." They understand the right to defend your domain. I wouldn't leave home without it...
