    Westerbeke 4.5 KW is KAPUTT!!!

I got a dealer direct 5.0 low profile for under $6,300 so I will do that. It does not sound like there is much to the install so I will have my local mechanic do after I first check with a Westerbeke dealer about the install recommendation. Thanks

    Whacky tachometer

My starboard tachometer has tended to run run about 10% faster than my port tachometer. I am guessing this is a tachometer problem and that the tach is not showing the real engine speed because it does this when the the engines are perfectly synched and when the throttle is about the same. Also...

    Westerbeke 4.5 KW is KAPUTT!!!

I've been looking for used and rebuilt 4.5's without luck so far. I agree if there is under $2,000 price difference then a new unit is a no brainer. Not yet sure if a new 5.0 will fit, though I am sure the low profile 5.0 will. Any thoughts? Meanwhile I will continue to search for a rebuilt 4.5.

    failed marriage

Dang, I haven't logged onto CSR for months and the first thing I see is this thread. What a great way to waste 10 minutes of my day. Not as good as dropping anchor and watching the Blue Angeles on the Severn yesterday, but that's another story... Dude, listen to the CSR advisors. They are...

    Westerbeke 4.5 KW is KAPUTT!!!

Last year my Westerbeke 4.5 KW (original with the 2000 340 DA) was frozen up. The marina maintenance guy said it was the starter, charged to put on a new starter but it didn't work and he said there was nothing more he could do. I don't use it much and just left it alone the rest of the season...

    48 - 2007 vs. 2008

It's that time of year and I have clearance from the Admiral to finally trade up. I am looking at a few 48's - 2006 and 2007 model years, each with QSC 540's. Any thoughts or caveats about these model years?

    Wanted 340 DA (2000) canvas

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check with Brett. I agree about the grotesque look some of the aftermarket canvas gives, though they do give nice space. I never use the boat with the canvas down anyway; I even cruise in the rain with it up or off. I would buy camper canvas, fastback or...

    Wanted 340 DA (2000) canvas

I need to replace the canvas and glass on my 2000 340 DA. It is currently tan; I prefer to switch to black if I find a complete set, otherwise I will keep the bimini and replace the tan. Fastback or other camper enclosure would be a good alternative. I have already checked with Great Lakes and a...

    Shuttle Launches

I have never seen a shuttle launch though I have seen others. I was working in Cape Canaveral the last few days and had been very excited to see the one that was planned but scrubbed. I will make another special trip to see one. A friend was a Shuttle and MIR astronaut and just listening and...

    420/44 da

THAT is a beauty - and it has everything. Unfortunately I can't see even trying to convince the Admiral to sign off of the additional price tag, given all the financial losses this quarter and two kids approaching college. I may have to suffer with an '06 instead...

    420/44 da

Robski97, she's beautiful. I have my eye on a couple of '06 44's with 500s, and I hope to buy one in the next month or two - just letting the financial dust settle a bit first!

    2006 44 da qsc 500

Thanks for the input so far. I was close to moving on it last week but some things came up and I had to put it on temporary hold but I will probably go ahead with the upgrade in the next few weeks or so. I have found three excellent 44 at excellent prices. What a great time to buy a boat. I have...

    Obama Infomercial

Ah but Gary you are now living in a Blue state. Then again as the man says, there are no Blue states or Red states just the United States.... So as somebody who does run a business serving our armed forces and our veterans, and employs a lot of people, and invests, and pays a lot of taxes, and...

    2006 44 da qsc 500

That's right. You remember all the fun. I had the 340 it just one season. It was a transitional boat from my old Chris Craft. I really enjoyed it a lot and it was a great boat but the Admiral is game for moving up, and when that window opens up we can never be sure how long it will stay open...

Tina Fey or Sarah Palin.... Tina Fey or Sarah Palin.... they look about the same but at least Tina Fey has some brains! Definitely worth staying up to watch.

    2006 44 da qsc 500

I am considering trading up to a 2006 44 DA with QSC 500's. I have decided I want to upgrade to something about this size by the spring, and prices are soft now so this may be a good time. Can anyone offer any particular advice about this year, model and power? There are also a few 05 46's...

    Rachel Maddow is Hot!

Butch for sure... and not even trying to masquerade as "fair and balanced." She is entertaining, though, just as entertaining on her side of the spectrum as Hannity and the Fox News right wing nuts are on their side. It's all just entertainment and should not be taken as journalism. To take...

How many hours did you put on ???

Only 51 hours so far this season, with a few weeks to go. There were many days with bad weather over the summer or I would have hit a hundred. Perfect summer and the boat has been flawless. Still I want another 10 feet by next summer. Today was gorgeous as my 14 year old son and his two...

Now, before we let you vote, tell us, who are you voting for?

Ah, a good hot dog is always welcome. BTW, accessible health care is an investment in human capital, and free health care doesn't exist since somebody has to pay for it. It's a matter of how it is financed and distributed. It is always amazing to see people get charged up without even...
