Good Thursday everyone.
As I mentioned on my other post, I've been working on my boat for the last couple of weeks, on and off. Here's the status update:
- I got the rotor sensor changed out so it started again (was a crank but not start problem).
- Went ahead and change all bellows, water...
Greetings everyone.
Brief story about my boating life & "ikes" first pls, hehehe:
I checked out the new Sea Ray 350 SLX and absolutely love it - DEFINITELY my DREAM boat. One problem: price tag is about $300K!!!
I also took my family (wife & 4 and 6 yrs old boys) to the Sacramento boat show...
I have a very newbie/dumb question:
- I saw all the new vessel view cool stuffs people installed so was wondering how to tell if my engine is compatible or not?
Thanks.
Good morning everyone.
I did some search but I'd like to run by CSR to get more/better advices, please :)
First of, my engines are 2001, Mercruiser 4.3L EFI V6, about ~460 hrs each. I bought the boat about 2 years ago, but only put about less than 10 hrs (60-70% salt). I'm not sure (forgot)...
Greetings everyone.
It's been really nice here in the Bay Area (NorCal). So I've been day dreaming about upgrading to the next boat. I'm cleaning the 280 to get ready for the first trip of the year.
If I can sell my 2002 280 for a good enough money as a down payment, I can upgrade to the...
Greetings everyone.
I posted this over iboats.com forum, but I'd like to try here too for more exposure.

I'm planning a surprise trip for my wife (& me) on this year Valentine's weekends. We've never gone anywhere pass Bay Bridge from our "home" port in San Leandro marina (we live in...
Hello everyone.
I thought my trim limit device was bad. Ordered 2 complete sets, but I ended up only replacing the starboard limit device. I'm saving the rest as backups.
What happened was, when I use the trailer up switch, only the port side ob raises up. So I think there's might be a...
:)
I just got into boating last year. Bought a 24 Bayliner, sold it right after to get myself a 280. I thought this would be the biggest boat I would buy because I only trailer it, no slipping (and plan to keep it for ... 10 years). But ...!
Now I realize that my trailer can take...
I know we've talked about this. But not about my setup, hehehe. So please come in and chime your advices.
I think my trailer can take a longer boat (thumb up for the next upgrade which I can't wait).
So the boat was sitting about a foot off from the max setting for the bow stopper. I...
Hello everyone.
Hope I'm posting in the right section.
I ran across a hidden sandbar and nicked both of my props, nicked starboard side kreg, broke the kreg on port side.
My deductible is $700 (requested $300 or something lower back then but forgot to follow up so it's still $700). I'm not...
The door lamination opened up a bit at the hinges so the screws wouldn't bite any more.
The door is still in excellent shape otherwise, so replacement is not an option. :)
Anyone has any other solution please?
I was thinking longer screws for this weekend trip. But that should only be a...
I asked on iboats.com but no responds. So I'm asking about it here again.
I heard people said good thing about boatUS's, and NBOA's.
NBOA's seems to be about 40% less expensive ($35000 agreed value for the boat, $10000 for the trailer, for ~$380 vs ~$680)
Is there anything real negative...
Anyone park their boat under any type of shade, port (metal/wood carport ect...)?
please post some photos and dimensions if possible.
My trailer is 35-37', truck is probably 22-25'. I'm planning to construct a 50-60' long port. So I'm looking for some design idea to minimize cost but maximize...
The plywood split on the door. What option do I have? Can i just get some plywood in HD, take old laminate skin & mirror, and laminate them onto the new plywood? If so, what type of plywood and thickness?
if not, what I need to do/buy instead? I'd like to do it myself.
Thank you.
Hello all.
Im a new boat owner so am still poking around to see what the best upgrade to make boating easier/more fun, and give me more information about the engines, and all others.
Then I ran across the tab auto controller. Question is: is it worth adding it? My trim gauge senders are...
I see oil on the engine room floor. My port side small drive oil monitor bottle was almost empty last time I took her out on a first test drive. I filled it up again with gear oil, 70-90 wt per previous owner. Ran her for about 15-20 mins.
I just checked today, and it's now only half full...
I don't have time to further verify things till Monday evening but I heard the charger keeps turning on for a quick cycle - maybe 30 secs or so- every 5 mins or so. This is with shore power plugged in.
Is this normal? I keep the shore power plugged in since I took the boat home ~10 days ago...
The mechanic surveyor said my trim & gauge senders are bad (not sure if only starboard or both, I'll ask today).
I plan to get them both & replace myself. I saw a kit on Amazon from Sierra International but it doesn't say if it'd fit. Also, is there anything else I should get? All the...
Hello everyone.
I posted this on iboats.com but thought I would try my luck here too.
Im planning a day trip with my youth group leaders (21-30), I'm the oldest (38), about 10-12 of us. So I'm looking for a fresh water spot that we can take our 280, anchor it and have fun. I also have some...
Hello everyone.
So it's official. I took her home this past Tuesday night, from 150 miles away.
Everything looks great, except a couple of things:
- cabin upholstery is dirty with some stain & dark spots (maybe mold). I can't remove the covers off. What's the best way to remove/bleach it...
