A quick pic on the return from the races.
Though the ubiquitous Thomas Point Lighthouse photos have been seen in many articles, I never get tired of seeing it still functioning !!
Sorry for the late reply, I have just returned from 4-5 days cruising the Bay.
For future reference , after heading South thru the Narrows Bridge, you make a rt ~ 300* turn after passing Green " 3 " and before Green " 1K " and head up toward Hog Island. [ That ] turn is not marked, so you will...
FYI ... Chesapeake Bay - Kent Narrows 24 th annual power boat races Jun 21-22. Races start at 1200 each day with various classes racing throughout the afternoon. Races will take place in Prospect Bay, South of Kent Narrows. Beautiful WX forecasted... see you there !!!! Tim
Tom.... Loggerhead, Halifax Harbor Marina and Aquamarina Daytona are all ~ 10 N. of Ponce. I've stayed at HHM & Aquamqrina many times. HHM is protected from ICW wake, security gates, West Marine is there, restaurant and reasonable fuel ( for Fl ). I prefer Aquamarina due to smaller, more quaint...
BG , good to see you're on your way. I'm sure you've done your due diligence, but just in case.... Isle of Palm MM 470, ICW # 117A- 119 is 3-3.5' at low tide. South of Isle of Hope " Hell Gate " ~ MM 575.......North side of Jekyll Island, ICW.... None of these are passable w/o going thru at...
FYI, For " snow birds ", the Lock closed Tues 11/05/13 due to valve failure on North entry gates. While repairs are being made, there are limited openings, conditions permitting......low tide, wind direction and speeds. The interim openings, using the South gates only, are set up for two...
Hi Ron, Over the last 6-7 yrs, I have done 4 Sykes Crk plant tours. The only yr I noticed the improved cabinetry was in June of 2012 and they were building 2013 boats. They may have made the switch earlier. The new cabinets are " night & day " different, really nice ! Tim
On close inspection, Some of the 90* edges on my cabinet doors have evidence of possible separation. As a result, when dusting/cleaning, I don't let the micro fiber rags cross over those edges. I'm not sure which production yr, but SR stopped using this " less than perfect product " on the...
Any upper Chesapeake Bay boats going to St Mikes this W/E. It's going to be a bit breezy, but otherwise good WX. I'll be there if your coming by boat or land...Stop by....Tim
In addition to what Kat said, I drilled a hole through both walls of the hose about 2" from the end ( thick walled 1.5 ID black hose ). Then made a knot with a 1 foot long loop with heavy string, ( that I had pulled thru when removing old hoses ). While keeping tension on the line, I wrapped...
A few years back, I noticed the rudders were at different " toe in " settings. I called the SR plant for the minimum setting to prevent " rudder flutter " ..... 1/4" each...Tim
Make sure each battery cell ,if wet cell, is up to specs ( Hydrometer ). Excessive resistance will melt and/or blow a fuse even if the thruster is not in use, but the charger is operating. Hope this helps, Tim
Hi Ken, I've never had to replace a bulb and the power draw is yesterday's technology. W/O a doubt, the LEDs are the way to go. On pg 16, sub paragraph 2, article b) it says periodically lube anodized aluminum sleeve :smt101 Obviously, that's rarely observed, until you've had to remove one from...
If your lights are the same as these, then it's very possibly a deterioration of the reflector ( faux chrome conical shaped part ) inside, not a leak. What looks like salt granules, are actually small pieces of the finish on the " cone ", that have settled to the bottom of the fixture. You can...
BR, FWIW... I've lived/ travel aboard anywhere from 1 yr to the 5-6 mo ( snow bird ) time frame from Md to the Keys. Most of the time it's been on my own. You can't see every pot hole coming at you, but mitigating most hazards can be achieved with a bit of common sense. I've never experienced...
I think your right Jon, below your Solon TV, that cabinet(s) is a good starting place. Another thought, I had a humming/feedback noise coming out of one of my aft cockpit speakers. I pulled the speaker and found a bad connection....good luck.
PS : Thats a Dyer 29 at the dock with me. It's been...
Hi Jon, I'm shooting in the dark on the location. Perhaps, if it's not under your helm, as you come down into the Solon and turn left to go aft to the guest cabin, do you have dead space under your stair area ?
I think your on the right track for the loose connection though...Tim
