Dropped plastic cap into fuel tank.

I emptied the fuel filter and didn't see anything. I didn't cut it in half yet. Is there a way to access the tank?

Dropped plastic cap into fuel tank.

What a moron. I was using a store bought funnel to put fuel in the tank. It had a slide on (and obviously now a slide off) black plastic cap. When i pulled the clear plastic hose out, the cap stayed in the fuel line. It had a certain spring like quality with the cap portion connected to a ring...

    Bennett Auto Trim Tab Install

I seem to be missing a trim tab. The hydraulic arm is there and i believe the backer plate is still there. There are some rivots or screw stubs positive to the plate... but no tab. I have a 1999 340 sundancer. This may be a silly question, but do I have to pull the boat out of the water to...

Sundancer 280 - two problems AC Converter& Air Conditioning

I'm also of the opinion that AC Converter means "Alternating Current" not "Air Conditioning". It is your battery charger. If the boat takes on water at the dock, the batteries would eventually fail and the pump would stop working. keeping it on in port keeps that risk down (I was told).

glad to report that leaving the water heater switch on with an empty tank of water doesn't appear to have caused any damage. One would hope that sea ray would anticipate my stupidity. Two Screws Loose is out of the water and getting her rebuilt engine this week. Finally, after 8 months on...

I left the water heater switch on with shore power. I came back to an empty water tank. Have I damaged anything?

Thank you. good to know. I bought a third Carbon monoxide sensor this weekend. now i have to figure out why the A/C keeps failing to start on the generator. it turns on for 2 seconds and then it turns off; and then repeats this a dozen times before i just shut it down.

i know that the question i am asking might require a very subjective answer. Some people are inherently more risk averse or more risk takers than others. the question has to do with sleeping with the generator running for the A/C to be on. I noticed Dale's comment about turning the generator...

Ok, I was able to open the arch lights and just turning them turned them on. I opened up the running lights. one worked after turning it and the other one was shot. However, when i opened one, i knocked it overboard. by the time i jumped in with snorkel equipment, it was gone. does anyone...

Ok, I opened up the arch lights and it turned out i just needed to spin them and they came on. I opened up the running lights. one needed turned and the other was blown. However, I did while anchored and i knocked the white trim/housing overboard. it sank and by the time i jumped in to get...

Are the lights (2) in the radar arch a sealed unit that is replaced in total or does the lens come off and expose a bulb that is swapped out? the lens seems to be on there pretty good. before i get tough on it, i wanted to see if that was the right thing to do. Dwight

Aloha, The hose in mine plugs in on the corner of the dinnette facing the mid salon area. there should be a lift up flap and the hose plugs in there. after the switches are on, putting the hose in activates the vacuum.

FYI. Replacement canvas (eisenglass visor and side curtains, front and rear bimini off radar arch, and three panel rear canvas with center window panel) is just under $2,000 at Great Lakes, plus shipping - a nice $400 bill to send that to Hawaii. it includes the rubber molded windshield grip...

Matter of critical importance... Seagull deterrent!

Just one more reason to think of Hawaii as paradise. No gulls, no osprey, no squirrels and outdoor air conditioning 12 months of the year.

what is the experience with rebuilt diesels? i am sure that sounds like a stupid question. the engines are only as good as the person rebuilding them. generally speaking, are diesels a simpler more reliable engine?

I looked into diesel. Your numbers are pretty accurate. I'm not sure the first mate would go for that.

The prior owner replaced all of the exhaust manifolds. that is the part that supposedly works. I'm concerned because one of the engines was rebuilt already. the mechanic is saying that he doesn't think it was put together right, but.... How do I know it will be put together right this time...

I got the bad news today that I have to re power or rebuild the 7.4 mpi's. one was already rebuilt, but doesn't go over 2900 rpms. The second engine has very low oil pressure. The mechanic thinks the bearing is bad because the oil he just put in is smoky and dropped below the line after just two...
