Re: 420 DB Owners Club
Checking to see if any of you with 44db had a hi press error on thermostats and after flushing and cleaning strainers, forward a/c was perfect but salon a/c stopped cooling. Compressor kicked on but no cool air. Would not even cool using a hose directly connected to dock...
I read the other threads re: power steer failures and many were due to a blown fuse and not the pump. Today, my mechanic called and said there was juice on both sides of the pump circuit, but the power assist unit was not powering up. He found it very unusual that the p.a. unit had failed on a...
Hey thanks so much to you guys, as I'm having the same thing on my 44 DB and I have the same pump. My mechanic was out there supposedly looking at a number of other things, but no mention of this. I should have known better and just got on the board. Fortunately he's an honest fella and...
Do you know if we can just put in another water pump with a higher flow rate? Would that hurt anything?? Probably cheaper than a new a/c unit. But I'm with ya'....if my salon a/c was toast, I'd definitely upsize it.
OK, mine is not necessarily a "line" failure, but something "ain't right". Had my boat hauled out for bottom job two weeks before labor day. Long and short, the boat was on dry dock for 10 days and splashed on Friday of Labor day weekend in Orange Beach, Ala. Power Steering was working fine...
Hey Ron.
To clarify, I've never "back flushed" my system. I disconnect both lines at the water pump, and I have a simple rig (clear tubing that fits over the a/c tubing and a hose clamp to secure it, along with a hose connector on the other end to connect to dock water) and just turn on the...
Hell I could write a book on all the issues i've had with the a/c's on my 44 db since day one. Salon temps running up to 84 when it's 90 degrees outside in good ole Louisiana. I will tell you that I can't stress enough the regular flushing of the lines which I do every two months. This has...
I went yesterday to see the job being done to the bottom. I tried to attache some pics in a post above but no luck. Have plenty of them, but any way, these guys have sanded my hull almost down to the gel coat to get rid of barnacles and in a few spots some still remain. Does anyone know if...
Hey Henry.
I think I'm sticking with Pettit and changing from the Hydrocoat at 40% copper, to the Ultima SR 60 to get a higher copper content.
Since my last post however, the yard is telling me that barnacles got down to the gel coat and they have to sand the hull down to gel coat and charging a...
In fresh water lakes/rivers (Louisiana), our rule of thumb is 3-5 years depending on how good the job was done and the paint used. We usually did it every 3-4 yrs using a hard bottom antifouling paint. This is my first SeaRay and first time using ablative paints. Bought it new in 6/2007...
Anyone know if technically Interlux ablative paint is superior to Pettit Hydrocoat which is what is currently on my boat? I have a 2007 SR 44 Sedan and hauled out today. Previously boat was in Louisiana waters, but since this March is in Orange Beach, Al and Florida waters. Leaning toward...
Yep. The price is about what you guys said. For a 24" model, it's about $1700. I've taken all the pics. The are HALF of another company that's in the back of PMY, but that was completely rediculous anyway. Not sure if I'm going to sell my boat or not, but think I may bite the bullet and...
I'm considering getting a model made of my boat and noted a couple of companies came up for this....particularly SD Modelworks. Spoken to them, looked at their website, rec'd pricing, and pretty close to just moving forward and sending my 50% deposit, but was just curious if anyone out there has...
Larry,
I own an '07 44 DB and would love to see the pics of what you did with yours. I've been focused on hydro swim plats and still may go that direction, but would love to see what you did with yours and the size of the dinghy you have on it. I presume no problems with planing or any other...
By the way, in the Service Manual, it calls for changing/checking the zinc bolts on heat exchanger and gear oil something or other (which must all be removed to get the water out of the system prior to changing impellers). How often do you guys change out the zinc bolts?? Where to get those...
Thanks Gary! I'm sending this $800 box of rubber back Monday! They don't even send you any vaseline for $800 frickin bucks:smt013. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the great ideas guys. I, like Gary, haven't ever put anything on other than maybe some soapy water on an inlet before replacing a hose simply to not have a major hassle in removing it for maintenance. What about the cost on the impellers for the main engines? Is that pretty much...
