Lofrans Progress II windlass motor for sale

My Lofrans, a 1200 watt 24 volt model, had a part of the gear break (has nothing to do with the motor). Unfortunately due to availability of that part I ended up just replacing the entire system, however the motor itself (the most expensive part) worked just fine. If anyone is interested in...

Anyone here have FLIR M or MD series?

If you have the MD, is it the 320 or 640? Do you miss not being able to pan and scan? Are you happy with the range and width of field of view? How much value do you find it adds (assuming you already have/had and use GPS and Radar at night)?

    Undocumented GFIs on 2006/2006 52DB?

I've got a 2006 52DB and I'm pretty sure I have popped a GFI that controls, among other things, the galley outlets. The manual shows three GFIs on the boat, one in each head and one under the stairs outside. All three are working fine. I'm thinking maybe there is another one somewhere, has...

RO system for sink and ice makers

We put this RO system (two as it worked out, water comes from the incoming water, tank or shore, then passes through all the stages, UV lights and into one of these two secondary tanks) into our boat this week. This was something we did in our 48 with great results. This time in addition to...

Does anyone out there have a stern thruster on a 500DB or 52DB?

If so and assuming you have it matched up (same size tube/motor/prop) with your bow thruster I'm curious how the stern compares to the bow thruster when both are engaged? Ie. assuming no wind do they push the boat sideways evenly or does one have a greater movement effect than the other?

Advice on adding a boat monitoring/alarm system

I installed The Boat Nanny on my 48 and it worked well (in particular I liked having a bilge temp with alarm for high/low temp, a bilge float switch as part of the system and notifications when the boat lost power at the dock). Looks like it hasn't changed in a number of years though, it's all...

Removal (and sale) of a Marquipt Davit

Has anyone out there with a 550/50/52 ever removed the factory equipped Marquipt Davit (in my case a model 1200)? If so, anything specific I should know? Was it a pretty straight forward job or were there complications? Did you pay someone to do it (a dealer for example) and if so what did it...

High fuel dilution reading in oil sample on a Cummins QSM11 (w/288 hours)

I'm looking at a 2006 52DB with ~288 hours on the QSM11 engines. I had oil samples pulled after a sea trial the other day, the starboard engine came back with a 5.5% "Fuel Dilution" reading in Contaminants on the oil analysis report. The notes from the lab on this point read "Since unit is...

Anyone with a 52DB and the crane loading a jet ski on the platform? Questions if so.

I'm looking at a '06 52 with the crane. I know the crane and platform can take 1200 pounds, although they list 800 pounds for a few reasons (past 800 it impacts the rise for example). What I'm curious about is who out there is actually using the crane to load/unload a jet ski and what are your...

2005 Sea Ray 50 Sedan Bridge - anyone have experience with this year & model?

I'm looking at a 2005 50DB. Looks like they only built the 50DB for one or two years (it replaced the 48DB and then was replaced by the 52DB in 2006 or 2007 I believe). Anyone have one of these? If so I'd love to hear pros/cons, things to look for, options that some had and some didn't...

    BVI Itinerary/Destination Suggestions

Last three ocean trips have been in my Sea Ray so I thought I'd try something different this summer - a group of us are chartering a 56' boat in the BVIs in June (bare-boat charter). We start and end (14 days later) in Tortola. I have never cruised in these waters so I've ordered a cruising...

Will be in NYC next week, anything boat related going on or any boating suggestions?

I will be in NYC next week on Wednesday with my brother, we're free until 11:30am and I was curious if anyone had suggestions or information about anything boat related going on (shows, events, etc.) or any boating related activities to suggest (specific rides or tours, etc.)? Thanks! Jason

Water Spout just off Little Palm Island

We stopped at Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys on our big adventure this summer. As we walked up to the restaurant from the dock I was amazed to see not one but about four water spouts very close to the shore. The five then merged into one big one. I snapped a couple of pictures and...

2011 10' Sea Ray 10 Sport Dinghie For Sale

Note: Apologies, the subject/title inadvertently says "Sea Ray" instead of Nautica. I don't see any way to edit that line unfortunately. 2011 10'2" Nautica International 10 Sport tender with 20hp Yamaha engine (+ paddles, repair kit). We bought this tender from MarineMax in Stuart for our...

Air Filter for Turbo on a 2005 48 Sundancer (Cummins QSC 540s)

Does anyone know the make/model/part number of the black turbo air filters on the 2005 (and I assume other years) 48 Sundancer? I've got Cummins QSC 540s. I'd like to find out the make/model as well as where to get them if anyone has found them for example in a national auto parts store (or...

Rule Bilge Pump in Sump Box occasionally gets air in it and won't prime/pump

I've got a sump box with a Rule 2000 Bilge Pump in there. Every so often the pump will be running but not pumping, the reason being that there is air in it. If I reach in and turn it sideways a bunch of air comes out and it pumps out the box. This pump is 1 week old, the last pump was doing...

Lunch stopover between Miami and Little Palm Island (in Hawks Channel)

Assuming the current forecast holds or gets any better (they are calling for 2-3s in the channel down to Seven Mile Bridge), we're planning on running tomorrow from Miami down to Little Palm Island (15-20 miles South of Seven Mile Bridge). The 'halfway' point is roughly in the Hens and Chickens...

Anyone out there running around Florida at the moment?

We're in Miami, planning/wanting to head South down Biscayne Bay and out into Hawks tomorrow and by Friday North up the Gulf side towards Sarasota (likely via Moser Channel). I'd love to compare weather thoughts (I'm looking at various sources to draw conclusions on what we're looking at) with...

Anyone know of a good Marine Mechanic in Nassau (Atlantis Marina)?

We're staying at the Atlantis Marina and I'm looking for a good marine mechanic to work on a punchlist (things like tightening a rudder packing gland in a really tough spot for me to reach). Anyone know of any experienced marine mechanics who make housecalls to Atlantis (presumably from over...
